Lina Rivera was raised in Orlando, Florida where she caught the writing bug early on in elementary school after her teacher showed her how to make her own book. Excited by this idea, she ran home and made her first picture book which she bound with yarn and read to her mom.

Lina attended the University of Southern California where she majored in Creative Writing and minored in Photography.
