The Harley came up fast behind her. The powerful cycle devoured the road, easily chewing through the small distance she’d put between herself and the camp. Low-slung with a custom black paint job, the bike paled in comparison, however, to the helmeted man riding it. Dade hugged the powerful machine with his legs, all black leather and raw power. He looked hot.

She’d pulled him into the storage depot because she’d known she was running out of time, so she’d figured she would take what she could get. Not that he had any complaints, but there was no way he was getting his before she did. Some things, a gentleman didn’t allow. Fortunately, he was bigger and stronger. He flipped her around, laying her back on the table in one smooth move, pinning her hands.
“Kisses first.”
“Dade.” Her voice was all feminine protest, her hands reaching for him.
He shook his head. “Ladies first.”
Before she could protest, he dropped to his knees in front of her.

She stepped around the food-laden table and stalked toward him, a determined look in her eye. He didn’t know what she wanted, but he’d seen fire start up a hill that way, unstoppable and devouring everything in its path. That look spelled trouble. He backed his ass up, doing a little fancy footwork. What. The . . .
Heaven.
Sarah Jo threw her arms around his neck, stretching up on tiptoe. Her enthusiastic embrace pinned the empty tray between them, his fingers curling around the edges. He’d catch hell from the boys for that one later. He felt cheated with that hard plastic pressed against his chest instead of Sarah Jo. Those millimeters separating him from her were a shame.
She smelled good, too. Pancakes and syrup, with a hint of something floral and feminine. She definitely smelled better than he did.
She pulled his head down toward her. There was nothing tentative or shy about her, just that happy laughter in her eyes and in her voice. “It’s going to be a real good morning, hotshot.”

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! I’m sitting here enjoying a day off and realizing I should be plotting resolutions for 2014. I’ve got the usual ones (run regularly, fit into that too-small bikini, stop pretending that Cheetos are a vegetable…), but I’m also starting to think seriously about my 2014 writing schedule. I’m waiting to hear from Harlequin on several proposals, but I also want to leave plenty of time for more smoke jumper and fallen angel books. What about you? What’s on your resolutions list?

Rio smiled, a slow, lazy curl of his lips that definitely should have been illegal. Gia knew, because she looked. She considered pulling the truck over and having her way with him again but that smacked of desperation.
“Are you asking me if I’m going to stop looking at you when we’re out in the field?”
Was she? She stared at the ribbon of highway like the answer was painted there between the neat yellow lines.
“Sure,” she said finally.
He laughed. “I doubt it. I like looking at you.”
That was definitely heat flushing her face. Damn it, she didn’t blush. Of course, she also didn’t flirt or have hot sexual flings either. Apparently, it was her summer for new experiences. She hadn’t thought much beyond getting Rio in her truck and then getting this itch she had for him out of her system. He leaned towards her and her body hadn’t got the memo that Rio was a one-time treat to herself.
Her body definitely wanted more.
