I was born in London and after studying Mathematics at University I had a career as a software engineer for nearly thirty years. I’m a keen mountaineer and I’ve climbed in the Alps, Alaska and South America.

In 2009 I trained as an English Language teacher and subsequently spent time in South America, which provided much of the background for The Banker.

The Banker is my first novel.

Robert Harris is one of my favourite authors. His genres are thrillers and historical fiction and although the subject matter varies, his books are always consistently good. This is no exception. An Officer and a Spy is both a thriller and historical ...more

Like all of Coben’s books that I’ve read, this deals with middle class suburban people who are not what they seem and have a past which catches up with them.

This is my first Lee Child book and I picked it because although it’s the 12th book in the published sequence it is the prequel to the Jack Reacher series. I liked the writing style, the chapters were short and most ended with a question which was an ...more

I know this book is supposed to be a seminal work in crime fiction whose style has been much imitated, but a lot of it was lost on me. The main problem was the 1930s American slang, which I found hard to follow. Not only did I miss a lot of the wisec ...more
