C. A. (Carol Ann) Newsome writes the Lia Anderson Dog Park Mysteries, a series of fun, romantic suspense/mystery novels which are inspired by and centered around her mornings at the Mount Airy Dog Park with her trio of rescues (rowdy hooligans).

A life-long lover of fiction, Carol turned to books and audiobooks during her decade-long recovery from a head injury that occurred when she and her bike were struck by a car. Years of immersing herself in popular fiction lead to imagining the book she wanted to read, and wondering if she could actually write it.

She is also an artist with an M.F.A. from the University of Cincinnati. You'll see portraits of some of her favorite four-footed friends on the covers of her books. She enjoys creating commun

If I get stuck, I review what's happening in the story and how each of my characters are responding to it. That always gives me direction.

I'm never stuck for very long. But I do have a trick I invented back when I was in management. The job was stressful, and I had days when I couldn't focus. Unlike many jobs, I could make my own hours. There was a multiplex theater just down the road. If I was having a rough day, I would look in the paper to see what was playing. I would pick a movie and give myself permission to go see it if I was still feeling the same way when it was time to leave to catch the next showing. Then I'd pick a task and get going on it.

Giving myself permission to leave alleviated the stress and I soon found myself engrossed in work. Out of the dozens of times I did this, I only made it to the movie twice.(less)

You just don't get the same kind of dialogue. People feel like they have to dissect art, when I just want them to enjoy it. Readers are a lot more fun.(less)

16 months ago, eight-month-old Gypsy, canine love of my life, worked the lid off a bottle of 5-HTP and gobbled the pretty capsules like liver treats (did I say she is a very smart girl?) I took the bottle away and thought nothing more about it because it’s just a supplement. Supplements are healthy. Less than two hours later she had a series of small seizures.

I didn’t associate her seizures wit...

Colleen Hoover Sweetness! You know how I love a good stalker. Did you finish The Hunger Games? Did you get to see the movie? I see you marked 'Slammed' as tbr. Hope you like it! *fingers crossed*

message 2: by C.A.

C.A. Newsome I ate up the Hunger Games trilogy. Finished Mockingjay the same day you sent it to me. I expect I'll love Slammed. How can I not? You wrote it. But I gotta get some work done first. I don't write as fast as you do.
