Since I'm still working the day job and have several other balls to juggle, the first is simple exhaustion. It's hard to be creative when you're dead tired. At that point, I have to step back and assess priorities rather than stress out.
The second is the dreaded, what happens next? Fortunately I don't hit this one often, but when I do I brainstorm with friends. Sometimes it gets completely out of control and leads to great ideas for future books. :)(less)

I'm working on Book2 and recently finished a novella that's out with beta readers. Hopefully everything comes together for the scheduled fall release.
Both my website & FB page have a sign up link for the "new release" newsletter if you'd like for me to let you know when it's available.

Lesson from Bon Jovi: “Do What You Can”

By Kathryn Lane

When I give presentations on writing, I’m often asked if I’ve experienced writer’s block – a slowdown of creativity or the inability to create a new work.

When my creativity slows, I turn to researching topics I’m writing about and that attracts my creative angels again. But I’ve heard stories of how dreadful writer’s block can be. Truman Capote spent the last ten years o

Alan Bennett
“The best moments in reading are when you come across something – a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things – which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours.”
Alan Bennett, The History Boys

Tina Fey
“So, my unsolicited advice to women in the workplace is this. When faced with sexism, or ageism, or lookism, or even really aggressive Buddhism, ask yourself the following question: “Is this person in between me and what I want to do?” If the answer is no, ignore it and move on. Your energy is better used doing your work and outpacing people that way. Then, when you’re in charge, don’t hire the people who were jerky to you.”
Tina Fey, Bossypants
