Happy 7th Anniversary

There are moments that are seared into our hearts, unforgettable.

A beginning. An end. So important our soul takes a picture.

When he came home from war, was my moment. I remember the feel of his arms as they came around me, lifting me off the ground; the scratch of his stubble against my chin, the smell of his skin, the feel of gritty sand beneath my hands.
I can't remember what he said. Or

A Marine

He’s covered in dust and sand

He’s tired

The sounds of explosions

Of shouting

Still ringing in his ears

When he closes his eyes

He sees blood

The marred body of his friend

Twisted metal aflame

His hand shakes as he picks up the phone

His heart pounds with equal fear and anticipation

He can’t even remember what time it is there

But he needs her now

When she answers

Losing You

I carry this scar

With me always

Sometimes though it’s faded

Pushed to the far corner of my mind

Something small, something simple

A book, a song, a picture, a piece of a memory

Makes it ache anew

I don’t think I’ll ever get over

Losing you

Touch

His touch is soft, gentle
A delicate caress
His love is tender, thoughtful, and reverent
His hands worship every curve
But his gaze never falters
His grip never loosens
His kiss is just hungry and firm enough
To tell me
There’s never been anyone else
That he’ll never let me go

Coming Home Teaser

Cassie’s brows knitted together as she frowned. She’d known Kyle all her life. And she knew he was hiding something. “Kyle?”
Kyle cleared his throat and focused his blue eyes on her, “Huh?”
She narrowed her eyes and studied him a moment. He exchanged a worried look with Kendra, and the whole bar could practically see the light bulb that clicked over her head. Cassie stood up quickly, the barstool

On My Knees

I've questioned you
Your existence
Your forgiveness
Your reasons
Your love

But most of all
I've questioned
Why I need you

And then the storm comes
A hurricane of worry, fear, and regret
Desperation to weave together
The thin threads of hope

And then a tiny miracle

With tears in my eyes
I fall to my knees
I lift up my hands

I pray
