I have loved stories--particularly the romantic kind--since I was very young. I spent a decade working in an office, but I've since dedicated myself to writing. I've traveled to many wonderful places around the world, including the haunted Scottish castle in which I got married. Though I live outside Chicago with my family, my heart will always belong to Australia.

The books listed here on my Goodreads page are ones that have influenced my writing, that have spoken to me in some deep and wonderful way, and that I enthusiastically recommend.

I really want to write a truly Scottish hero--accent and swagger and all. I'm hesitant to give an actual date for a release at this point, so let's just say 2015.

BTW, I'm giggling over the idea of a "Highland Games Universe." I'm picturing men in kilts in space!(less)

Walks through a forest preserve or the Morton Arboretum near Chicago are invigorating. I might bring my dog. I might do a fast-walk for 3+ miles near my house. They always recharge me.

For long-term/big issue writer's block (like "this idea is horrible" or "I'm no longer original" or "what the hell should I write about") I never *stop* writing. I will move on to something entirely different. I'll journal longhand. I'll crank out some word crap about an idea that I had a decade ago. ANYTHING to keep writing. Because stopping only contributes to the doubt. I've found the longer you stop, the harder it is to get the momentum back.(less)

NOT a romance (or even romantic). I really really liked the writing and the atmosphere. I loved the details, the intricacies of the settings and such.

Terrific fantasy. A Big Bad unlike any I've read before, a brave, admirable set of characters, and a wholly satisfying ending.

“You are what you love doing. I love writing even when I don't like it or when I feel it doesn't like me back. I am learning to embrace this truth.”
