I need your input

I have not written much on the blog, lately. I have been writing book number three of the trilogy, and the first draft is completed. Book two should be released around Christmas, so plan to stuff my second book in those holiday stockings.

I ask you, what do you want to hear from an author? What do you want to know? What questions do I need to answer for you?  What do the fans of THE NEW PHENOMENON want to know?

Your responses will guide my blogging. School starts soon, and my softball coaching duties will get hectic. I will need a writing escape, and you can be my guide. I eagerly await your responses.

Great Time at Junction Days

I had a wonderful time at Junction Days in Red Oak.  I saw a lot of familiar faces at my 20 year reunion, and I got to meet some new fans at the book signing.  Red Oak was awesome, and that is why I selected it as the setting for book one, The New Phenomenon.  Book two travels to Grand Island, Nebraska and locations in Arizona.  My daughter thinks book two is better than the first one.  You will get to find out in November when we release it.

So long to my friends in Red Oak.  Until we meet again…

Book Signing Today

Chris Raabe and John Kalkowski will be at Brewsky’s Grill (156th and Q Street in Omaha) today, May 14th from 3:30-6:30 pm.  Please stop in to visit with these two great authors and pick up a few signed copies of their YA novels.  Then feel free to stick around and order dinner.

Like Chris, John is a middle school teacher in Millard Public Schools who wrote a novel to help draw his students into reading. Sorry, you can’t really click to look inside, I stole this picture from Amazon.

We look forward to seeing you this afternoon.

Book 2 is in the hands of young adult testers

I have given a copy of the manuscript for book 2 to two young adult readers.  One is in 7th grade and the other is in 5th grade.  I am awaiting their feedback before I finalize things for the second book of the Phenomenon Trilogy.  I will keep you posted on their thoughts and insights.  We are getting closer to the release of book 2.  Exciting!

Reader finds a spark

I love words of encouragement, and I love to hear when someone catches the spark to start reading.  This message from the brother of a childhood friend of mine encompasses both.  Loved it and wanted to share it with all of you!

“Chris, loved the book and can’t wait for the follow up. Just wanted to thank you for renewing the joy of books for me. Fox and I received a kindle for Christmas and it has sat unused. Since I finished your book I have now downloaded about a dozen books on the kindle and already tore through 3 of them. I don’t think I had read a book in over a decade prior to The New Phenomenon. It really got me eager to read more. Again, thanks for the wonderful read and sparking a renewed joy in me.” -Craig
