Peeps, sorry - the first "Solar Wind" book is not entirely free any longer. It is still deeply discounted at only $1 on Smashwords though. That won't break the bank.

Here's the link:

https://www.smashwords.com/books/view...

Grab yours while this lasts. The sequels come in at $4.95 - those are big books, folks. Immersive, escapist. If you liked the first, you'll love the others.

Or feel free to help yourself to a shortstory from here:

https://www.smashwords.com/books/byse...

Enjoy!!

(Footnote: I have not yet started writing again. Once my life has stabilized, once I have kept a number of commitments, then... I'll write again. Maybe 2 more years.)

Well unless it's a block of paper for me to make notes on. But I do write myself into dead-ends, and then it's a challenge to get out (sometimes it takes erasing some scenes first); and I also find in some stories that I lose interest. This is probably because the story idea wasn't all that fantastic in the first place. Not every little plant must become a tree. If I find that happening, I move on from that story.

To stay inspired it helps to have a lot of other, varied experiences. Look for inspiration. And relax. (less)

The way a story can take you away into its world, and you can watch it unfold, and go off the rails, and pull a halt to it, and sit your characters down and have that critical conversation with them ("listen, Ailyss, do you really want to continue working for the Unicate? Or do you need to be rescued?"), and erase the bad bits and do it again, this time better, and...

Review: Money Run

Money Run (Ashley Arthur, #1)Money Run by Jack Heath

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book had me chewing my nails, holding my breath, hanging on. Ashley Arthur's hands do not shake as she sneaks boldly into every life-threatening situation with classic teen nonchalance. Her accomplice on the other end of the data line is as tense as the reader as Ash has one narrow escape after another.

Child, do you realize you're up against... Read more of this blog post »
