A writer of both fantasy and horror, Marlena’s work is in a smattering of anthologies. Her stories lean toward weird horror, creature horror, and YA fantasy. She typically thinks up strange tales while sipping sweet tea at her Georgia home, listening to podcasts on her hour-long commute, or while reading a good book with her three cats.

Audible has been a big help with this, since it turns my commute into much-needed reading time. I've also checked out some excellent horror like Josh Malerman's Bird Box, which was on my to-read list ever since I heard it mentioned on The Outer Dark podcast. I'll probably swing back toward more cheerful fantasy at some point, but right now I'm reveling in dark fiction.(less)

Wow, I guess those are two topics people don’t really think are similar. It’s no secret that the latest Jurassic World film has gotten a lot of flak from reviewers. Rotten Tomatoes lists it as rotten with just over a 50% rating. But the film just hit the billion dollar mark in theaters – apparently the first non-Disney film to do that this year. So what’s so great about the film...

Oh my gosh, this book is so much fun! It's full of adorable, romantic silliness but it's also not afraid to take on darker topics as well. One of the first stand-out pieces (or slices hehe) was the amount of diversity! We have Kiev, who is Mexican an ...more

"This short and scary novella is a cool twist on werewolf stories! Mercy was the perfect young protagonist, complex, yet likable. She had you rooting for her from the start. This story is a good escape. It is reminiscent of the old horror classics..." Read more of this review »

Marlena Frank So I bought myself a Nook Color last weekend. I have a feeling this is going to greatly increase my reading output this year. How cool is it to have your books at your fingertips, and always the right size for my purse? ;)

So far I'm loving the free book Fridays, the sudoku, the crossword, and how easy Calibre is able to transfer Project Gutenberg books over. And once our library system starts offering more eBooks, I'll be able to read those easily on it as well!

Marlena Frank I'm loving it more and more. Plan to move my stuff over from Visual Bookshelf once their site's back up again. =)

Lena
