New Release: The Publisher’s Proposal, Daring Desires, Book 2

The Publisher’s Proposal, Daring Desires, Book 2, is the sequel to the ARe bestseller, The Submission.

Sylvia must fess up her secrets, but things go too far when Ivy, the publisher at Daring Desires Publishing, wants to use Katia as her own personal learning tool for BDSM. What ensues is a catfight between editor and boss, as both try to win over author Katia Lane.

Katia never expected BDSM to come up when she’s invited to meet with the publisher for dinner, but sure enough, a ménage is in the making. What Katia can’t understand is, if Sylvia asked her to come, why isn’t the editor enjoying this too?

Be Warned: menage sex (FFF), BDSM, voyeurism, sex toys

 Excerpt:

Determined to win this little game, Sylvia moved up to her sub’s neck. She nipped and kissed lightly before running her tongue across Katia’s earlobe. The whimper turned into a moan and Sylvia couldn’t help glancing at Ivy out of the corner of her eye. Her boss had one of Katia’s legs lifted and she was mirroring Sylvia’s motions on the inside of Katia’s thigh.

Oh, now that’s playing dirty. I would have started by kissing her ankles.

Sylvia narrowed her eyes and decided to beat the redhead to the punch. They all knew where this was headed, and she’d be damned if Ivy got to her sweet spot first. She adjusted so that she was seated on the edge of the bed, her feet still planted firmly on the floor, and her ass hanging half off. It wasn’t too comfortable, but it gave her access to what she wanted. Katia’s pert nipples beckoned her like cupcakes in a bakery. She wanted nothing more than to lick the sweet tips of them until she was satisfied.

As Sylvia began lowering her head, she noticed Ivy had paused to watch her. The woman’s eyes were narrowed, as if studying Sylvia’s movements. That’s right, you are the student and I am the master. You better be studying hard.

With slow, deliberate movements, Sylvia swirled her tongue around Katia’s breast. She avoided the nipple with great care. When she tilted her head to glance at Katia’s face, the woman was staring at her with wide, pleading eyes. Oh yes, she knew that look and knew exactly what the sub wanted. Suddenly, Katia threw back her head, her body arched off the bed, and her eyes shut. Her breast almost slammed right into Sylvia’s mouth.

A quick glance back down at Katia’s pussy confirmed Sylvia’s suspicions: Ivy was fingering her, fast and hard. An orgasm was wracking the blonde’s body, and her moans were clearly audible through the gag. Katia was tugging at her restraints, her fists clenched.

She’s right on the edge, slipping, but not free-falling yet. Here’s my chance.

Tara Chevrestt is a deaf woman, former aviation mechanic, writer, and an editor. She is most passionate about planes, motorcycles, dogs, and above all, reading. That led to her love of writing. Between her writing and her editing, which allows her to be home with her little canine kids, she believes she has the greatest job in the world. She is very happily married.

Tara also writes as Sonia Hightower. Sonia writes the racy stuff and argues that she was here first. She just wasn’t allowed to be unleashed until the last year.

They both agree, however, that strong is sexy, and they don’t write the average, simpering damsel. They write about women who see what they want and obtain it.

While Tara and Sonia continue to fight over the laptop and debate who writes the next book, you can find buy links, blurbs, and other fun bits on their website: http://tarachevrestt.weebly.com/index.html or their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tara-Chevrestt-Sonia-Hightower/218383211513877.

Cover Art Reveal!!!

There is nothing I love more than getting a new cover, unless it’s a royalty cheque. LOL But seriously, I spend a lot of time scouring photo sites to give the cover artists an accurate indication of what would best represent the novel. In Bad Boy Blake, the image fits perfectly. Blake Bennett is the town bad boy turned Sheriff, and he rides a Harley. The woman he’s attracted to is a dancer…a pole dancer, with some surprisingly erotic moves. Gina Weston dresses daringly, and is independent yet feminine enough to raise Blake’s protective instincts, and his blood pressure. See for yourself. I love this cover!

Blurb:

Blake Bennett is the town bad boy turned Sheriff, elected to keep the peace. When Blake first meets Gina, she’s butting heads with the town Mayor…over the type of dancing she teaches—pole dancing.

Gina West is a professional dancer, who retired from the stage, and moves to Westonville, NB, to start her own dance studio. But Gina is not who she claims to be, and when strange things start happening…vengeful threats and vandalism…Blake begins digging for the truth. In his role as protector, he begins to fall for Gina, but will her lies and subterfuge destroy any chance for them to be together?

Bad Boy Blake is a contemporary romantic suspense and releases through Evernight Publishing on October 30th.

In other news, it’s been a busy few months.

I’ve been busy writing Cameron’s Quest, Book 5 in my Thunder Creek Ranch series with Evernight. It seems to be taking forever to tell Cam’s story, (he keeps interrupting) but it is finally coming together.  I’m trying to have it finished and submitted by October 31st as National Novel Writing Month starts November 1st and I have a new western series to start for that one.

You may have heard me speak of my Hudson Ranch Trilogy. Well, I had signed a contract with Ruby Lioness Press last summer, but they went belly up. I did get my rights back, but I put the series on hold. I’m happy to announce that it is again a go, and…my sister, Sharon Wilson-Dupuis, will be designing original artwork covers. That’s right folks, my sister is an awesome portrait artist and she has agreed to take on this project. As kids, we always said we would do this one day. She was always drawing and me, well, I was writing, of course. LOL So my NaNo month will be a frenzy of writing about the Hudson brothers, Benjamin, Gabriel, and Nathan. In 2009, I wrote 108,000 words during the month of November. This year, I intend to beat that record and write all 3 novels. Wis me luck and minimal interruptions. :)

I entered several contests on eHarlequin this year and have been pounding the keyboard to have manuscripts ready. I now have a requested partial with Harlequin Intrigue, Innocent Pretender, and one with Harlequin American, Rushing Waters, Flooding Hearts. Fingers crossed. :)

I also entered HM&B’s So You Think You Can Write contest and I want to thank everyone who voted for my chapter. Suited to be a Cowboy didn’t make the the second round, but the ones that did are to be commended. With 700 entries, the competition was fierce. Well done to the final 28. Can’t wait to see who the final three will be. :) Public voting will begin again in November. And Suited to be a Cowboy? Who knows where it’ll turn up.  :)

On a personal note, I was so pleased to have all three of my sons home for Thanksgiving. (Yes, we are Canadian.) From left to write, youngest to oldest, Joshua, Nicholas, and Christopher. Love my boys!

Erotic Reads featuring Sonia Hightower!!!

Taking it Too Far is a new release for Sonia Hightower and already has a 4 Star review on Amazon.

Product DetailsCreepy…October 12, 2012

By L. L. Greer

I enjoyed this short story. It left me with a lot of questions. Did the heroine have the sexy and disturbing encounter she thought she did…or was it all a dream?”

Blurb:

It’s Halloween, and Vivian is looking forward to a sexy romp with her husband of eight years. The kids are tucked in bed, the bedroom door is locked, the candy’s put away, and Vivian is ready and willing…but Kenny’s Halloween costume is a bit creepy, and he may be taking it too far..

Will the night end in horror, or will a new day show that it was all a dream…a bad dream?

Next up is Cauldron of Tales anthology in which Sonia has two remarkably witchy reads.

Blurb:

When five witches with wild imaginations get together,

the pot boils over with trouble, romance, and sensuality.

Sonia’s stories:

1/ In The Devil’s Berries, readers are taken back to Renaissance England where Sabine, facing her last night alive, reveals how the witch really came to be associated with the broomstick. Will her nightly visitor bring her more trouble or will he give her peace?

2/ Danica finds herself confused after a trip to the carnival with her best friend and coworker. She’s been attracted to Lisette for months, but are her feelings really being reciprocated, or was there A Sappho Spell cast in Madame Lilith’s tent?

Book #3: When Hubby’s Away

Blurb:

Natalie is looking at six really lonely months when she kisses her husband goodbye before he heads to the Middle East on a deployment. So when he suggests she seek comfort in the arms her sexy girlfriend, Mariah, and Mariah appears to be open to the idea herself, she does.

A night of passion and peaches and cream body oil turns into a very close relationship, but when Natalie tells Chase in a letter what is going on, she discovers he was joking, and he is now afraid of losing her.

How can she convince her husband that she can, will, and does love them both and will part with neither?

Book #4: Femdocs

Blurb:

It’s the near distant future…and women are tired of being passive, of doting on men. It’s time to put the cooking pots away.

A group of top-notch woman doctors plan to eliminate the male population one man at a time, luring them to sperm banks, using man’s lust and greed against them. By the time they are done, only the good, the kind-hearted, and the easily malleable will be left, allowing the women to form a new, respectful race of men.

But when one doctor falls for an agent, can she save him in time, or does it mean going against all she believes?

Book #5: Sinful Urges

Sinful Urges

Blurb:

Follow the confessions of Juan and Maria as they fall prey to lust at first sight. Can they stop themselves before it’s too late, or will they become victims of their own sinful urges?

A new neighbor sends Juan running to confession to rid himself of the lustful thoughts he experiences. Each confession becomes more erotic, more sinful than the last. Can Juan stop himself, or will he give in to the desire that threatens his very faith?

The man across the street causes Maria to question her own morals. When she seeks out a priest for confession, she weaves a tale of exotic kisses and stolen moments. How can Maria find sanctuary in her prayers when her body demands she finds solace in her neighbor’s arms?

I hope you enjoyed this brief glimpse into the stories

this fabulous author has penned.

Official Release! Cauldron of Tales!!!

Our Witchy Halloween Anthology, Cauldron of Tales releases today! Yay! Although the book has been out for a few days now, today marks the official release. Don’t you just love the cover! It was designed for us by Staci Perkins. Thank, Staci! You did an excellent job! :)

When some friends and I got together and decided to self-publish this antho, we were excited, to say the least. We have a selection of six witch stories penned by five authors, Sonia Hightower, Chacelyn Pierce, Angelina Rain, Nikki Prince, and myself. They range from sweet and humorous to downright spicy…something for everyone. :)

Now, you all know that I don’t write paranormal, but I wanted to take part, so this was quite a challenge for me. When an idea suddenly hit, I ran with it, and am I glad I did. Hexed or Vexed kept me laughing as I wrote, the words coming fast and furious. It’s my hope that you’ll enjoy reading these stories as much as we enjoyed writing them.

When five witches with wild imaginations get together,
the pot boils over with trouble, romance, and sensuality.

In The Devil’s Berries, readers are taken back to Renaissance England where Sabine, facing her last night alive, reveals how the witch really came to be associated with the broomstick. Will her nightly visitor bring her more trouble or will he give her peace?

Cindy can’t decide if she’s Hexed Or Vexed her longtime friend, Killen. All she knows is that one second he was her very manly friend, and the next, he’s a dog. Can her Witchy Group on Facebook help her fix the mess, or will she be burdened with a comical canine companion the rest of her days?

Willow Vance is a poor excuse for a witch, and by some stroke of luck, the six-year-old Past Potion she crafted worked. When the hexed warlock finds out about Willow’s curse, he will stop at nothing for her to lift the spell. Willow can run, but does she want to?

Alone for Halloween, Bryn is ready to take some frustrations out on her purple battery-operated toy, but she’s in for a surprise when the Toy Soldier becomes a flesh-and-blood man. Grateful to be free of his plastic curse, Byron will do anything for her…no matter how naughty.

A dance of seduction under The Light of the Moon turns into a night of passion, but will that be enough for Aponi to keep the man of her dreams enchanted? Or will the flame that was ignited die out just as quickly as it sparked?

Danica finds herself confused after a trip to the carnival with her best friend and coworker. She’s been attracted to Lisette for months, but are her feelings really being reciprocated, or was there A Sappho Spell cast in Madame Lilith’s tent?

New Release!!! FemDocs by Sonia Hightower!

Wow! If you’re into SciFi/Femdom, you’ll find this a different, yet enjoyable read. Sonia has really penned a winner with this one. Read on to find out more.

It’s the near distant future…and women are tired of being passive, of doting on men. It’s time to put the cooking pots away.

A group of top-notch women doctors plan to eliminate the male population one man at a time, luring them to sperm banks, using man’s lust and greed against them. But when one doctor falls for an agent, can she save him in time, or does it mean going against all she believes?

Excerpt:

“I thought that mofo would never die.” Chacelyn tossed her hair and cast one look through the peephole located right behind the sofa.

“Shh. Someone may hear you.” Cassanna glanced around the hallway. Thankfully, at the moment, it was empty of patients.

“Did you see the line out there? I don’t think I can do that awful pole dancing for all those dirt bags.” Chacelyn raised her eyebrows at her friend and partner. “Why don’t you take over? That afro is pure hotness. You look like a young Pam Grier. If I have to lick my lips seductively one more time…”

Cassanna giggled. “Pam Grier? That was…centuries ago.” She placed her hands on her hips. “But thank you. On a serious note, do you want to fondle their balls? It’s pure nastiness. Some of them stink, I tell you. If I have to smell that musty, stale ball odor…”

“Ladies.” Cassanna and Chacelyn immediately turned at the stern voice coming from behind them. Chacelyn gulped loudly, and Cassanna patted her afro nervously.

“Doc,” Chacelyn acknowledged the woman before them. “Sorry, we’re just—“

“Don’t worry about it.” The woman waved her hand impatiently. Her dark hair was pulled back in a chignon, doing nothing to harshen her lovely features. Her hazel eyes pierced them. “I know it’s distasteful to say the least, but it must be done. For the good of us all.”

Cassanna murmured an amen, nodding her head in agreement.

“Just keep it out of the hallway and get that room ready for the next one. They’re coming in like crazy. Got a line in the waiting room.”

“Yes, Doc.”

As the woman they knew as Doc clicked her heels down the hallway, Chacelyn flipped a small, almost hidden panel and pressed a button. She and Cassanna waited a few beats, Cassanna watching the dial of her watch. When Cassanna gave Chacelyn a nod, signaling enough time had passed and the room was safe to enter, Chacelyn opened the door with a shove.

As quickly as possible, both women grunted, heaved, and worked together to remove the patient’s dead body, dragging it from the sofa to a hidden trapdoor under the removable stage.

The body landed below the building with a thump, and both nurses immediately withdrew wrapped squares of disinfectant wipes from their jackets, proceeding to scrub their hands clean, noses wrinkled with distaste.

“Well,” Cassanna said as she tossed her wipe into a nearby trash bin. “The crematorium is going to be busy today.”

Spotlight & Giveaway with London Saint James!!!

It’s my absolute pleasure to welcome back friend and fellow author, London Saint James. Today we’re promoting another of her excellent novels, The Good Sister, Part One.

Don’t you just love the cover!

It gives me all kinds of ideas, creative ones mind you. LOL

Ready for a brief summary? Here it is…

Trinity Lane Winslow feared everything and lived her life vicariously through others. She dreamed of the impossible, yearning to be the kind of woman men desired—especially Reid Addison.

Reid Addison feared nothing, except how the mousey little blonde daughter of his housekeeper made him feel.  Even though Trinity Winslow wasn’t his type, there was something intriguing about her.

Lord Ashton Archer lived a fairy tale life with property all over the world, was heir to a ducal dynasty, and had women fawning all over him. Anything a man could want, he obtained by the snap of his fingers.

By a twist of fate the three of them find their way into the same illicit world of the infamous Madam Jacqueline Claudette Rousseau. But will they find what each of them truly desires? Or will they always long for the forbidden?

Got you interested? Whet your appetite for more? Read on…

The Good Sister (Part One) Excerpt:

I walked to the staircase, rubbing at the back of my neck. I made my way down to the second floor. I stopped for a moment to stretch before reaching out to the door of my room. Strong hands wrapped around the tops of my arms, pulling my body back into a muscular chest.

“Why do you haunt me?” he whispered against my ear.

Goose bumps traversed my skin. My body, my reactions would give me away. I must find a way not to react to Reid.

“Please, speak to me,” Reid urged. “I need to hear your voice for my own sanity.”

I turned the doorknob, took Reid by the hand, and led him into my room. I turned off the lights, leaving us in dimness. The fire was low, no longer raging, but I would need to be careful. If I moved him to the settee by the dressing area there would be very little light, and he would not be able to fully see me. With his hand in mine, I took Reid to the settee. I pressed upon his chest, urging him to sit. I placed my fingertip to his lips, indicating not to speak. Reid sat. I unbuttoned his shirt one button at a time.

“There is something about you which haunts me, calls to me, makes me think—” I stopped him with my lips.

I felt his fingers on the back of my neck, urging me to stay. I pulled back, took his hand, turned it palm up, and with my index finger I wrote:  NO.

“Please, tell me who you are?”

I closed my small hand over his, giving him my final answer.

Ashton bulldozed through my thoughts. Something about this made me feel guilty, but I need not be guilty. I’d come here for Reid. All of this was for Reid.

Reid shrugged out of his shirt. I skimmed my hands over his chest then over his rippled stomach without reservation or hesitation. He was my goal, my focus, what I wanted, what I had always wanted. My hands moved to the buttons on his jeans. I popped the first button and ran my fingertips over the strength of his stomach once more, circling his navel. His stomach muscles responded with a flexing jerk.

Reid placed his nose to my hair and sniffed. I made it through the button fly of his jeans, and slipped my hand inside the denim to feel Reid iron hard beneath my hand. I stroked him, squeezed him, took in every inch of him. Reid groaned. I gripped at his pants, pulling.

Reid stood up, and removed his pants. Once they were gone he sat back down. I fell to my knees, at his feet, slid up between his legs, grasped his hard cock in my hand, and placed a kiss to the tip of him.

“Shit,” he muttered.

I lifted my hand. He quieted. I kissed his cock, and stroked his balls, but I knew he wanted hard and fast. I remembered how he pleasured himself in the shower. How he fucked Breeze. Rough. I had to be prepared to give him what he needed. It would be nothing like Ashton. I thought about Ashton again, but I plucked Ashton from my thoughts. Reid was why I’d come to France. Reid was who I desired. I couldn’t desire two men, could I? But something about Ashton was different. No, I cannot have feelings for Ashton. I mouthed the ridge of Reid’s broad head.

Reid snapped. He thrust his hips, thrusting his cock deep, grabbing at the back of my head, pushing my head down upon him, entangling his fingers into my hair, fisting.

I didn’t struggle. I breathed through my nose, relaxed my throat.

“Fuck,” he muttered. He let loose of my head.

Reid got up from the settee, grabbed his shirt then stopped. He was silent for a long moment. I watched as he pulled on his jeans, securing them. He walked to the door. In the dim light I saw him run his fingers through his hair, stopping to scrub the back of his neck. He gripped his shirt in the other hand. I wondered if I should go to him. I stood, walked to him, and reached out. I placed my hand to his muscled back.

“I’m sorry,” he said in a whisper.

Then Reid was gone.

Oooh!!! A hot one! Just the way I like ‘em. :)

5 Star Review for Her Unlikely Bodyguard on Amazon!

My day started in a super terrific way by finding this review on Amazon. Had to share. :) Bookwench calls me a ‘plot witch’ who casts incredible spells. Love it!

5 Star Review for Her Unlikely Bodyguard on Amazon! http://www.amazon.com/ product-reviews/B008BT2YXS/

bookwench reviewed Her Unlikely Bodyguard

You’re Likely to Love This One… August 12, 2012

Lorraine Nelson has a unique knack for weaving tales of family, romance and suspense into an incredibly intoxicating creation. I like to refer to her as the ‘Plot Witch’ and with Her Unlikely Bodyguard, Lorraine has certainly cast another successful spell.
Jemma’s former high-school boyfriend explodes into her life with a flair that can only be called ‘karmic’. Jemma’s new, quiet existence is shattered by old feelings and new troubles caused by her ex beau. Ted doesn’t see it that way though. He has his own version of past and present events that have Jemma questioning and rethinking why she ever ran away in the first place.

With children the same age, Jemma and Teddy find there is more to their relationship than common ground. Jemma’s stalker has plans of their own to sabotage and cause as much pain as possible. Like always, it is always the person no one ever suspects. I am usually pretty good at figuring these situations out, but Lorraine fooled me. That alone is cause for a 5 star review :)

I won’t give away anymore of the details, because I really hope you will read Her Unlikely Bodyguard for yourself. Just know this isn’t a typical romance by any means. :)

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting another family of Lorraine’s. She continues to entrance me with her ability to give us family, life and a love to believe in. This is how Romance books should be written. Authors should take notes and learn from one of the best, yet highly under-applauded writers of our time.

Thank you Lorraine for another wonderful journey. Until next time…

It’s times like this that make me really glad to have my books out there. Thank you, bookwench!

New Release…Finding Baby J!!!

I am thrilled to announce the arrival of Baby J. Abandoned at birth, he soon finds himself wrapped in the loving arms of Shana Davis. But Dr. Kagan Daniels is also drawn to the baby boy. This is a compelling story of love for a child and how it can bring two people together. Blood ties aren’t always the strongest, as proved when J wraps these two adults around his little fingers and secures a place in their hearts.

My friend and fellow author, DJ Frazier, provided the idea for this story, and we spent many delightful evenings brainstorming, writing; sometimes sad and sometimes laughing at the hijinks of Shana and Kagan as they come to know each other. I hope you enjoy this foray into the medical world. :)

Blurb:

One lonely woman, a doctor afraid of commitment… Will finding Baby J help them find each other?

***

Shana Davis knows what it’s like to be unloved and unwanted. Her childhood involved being shuffled from one foster home to the next. One night, as her shift at Mercy hospital comes to an end, she hears a forlorn, mewling sound and finds a newborn baby boy left in a dumpster. The abandoned baby appeals to her soft heart and her immediate attachment to the child—dubbed Baby J—leads to her spending a lot of time in the Maternity Ward in the company of the handsome Dr. Daniels.

Dr. Kagan Daniels is heart-sore and commitment-shy due to his failed marriage and past experiences with selfish, cold-hearted women. But he sees a gentle, caring soul in Shana and is drawn to her. Despite his reservations, he realizes he wants to get to know her better and finds excuses to spend time in her company.

Having always wanted to be a daddy, Kagan adopts Baby J. As he and Shana grow closer, Shana feels she’s found her own private heaven. She has Baby J and the man of her dreams. What more could a woman want?

But a conniving woman, a manipulative mother, and a man from Shana’s past threaten to come between them. Will the lies spewed by others separate them forever? Or can their love win out over all?

Excerpt:

Kagan held her hand as he guided her into the house. They walked through to the foyer to ascend the magnificent staircase leading to the second story. Once there, he preceded her into his personal suite of rooms. The main area had a bay of windows opening out unto a balcony. The view overlooked the back lawn and gardens then meandered down to the river where a boathouse and dock were just visible in the moonlight.

“Your home has such beautiful views.”

“Nothing compares to the beauty of you. I especially like looking at you as I undress you, exposing that gorgeous body, one piece of clothing at a time.”

He matched his words with action, starting with her sweater, looped casually around her shoulders. Then turned her into his arms for a deep, passion-filled kiss. She felt that melting sensation that happened every time he kissed her. Her insides fluttered and took wing then settled into a delicious knot of anticipation. She stroked her hands down his chest and felt the ripple of firm muscle, enjoying the opportunity to explore his body more fully. Her inhibitions completely deserted her. Though he hadn’t said the words, she felt he was making a commitment to them and not just playing the field.

He led her to the bed where he continued to strip her bare. Night had fully descended, moonlight reflecting off the water, illuminating the room enough so they could see each other.

Her hands were busy with the buttons on his shirt, shaking so much from anticipation they refused to work properly. In her haste, she ripped the remaining ones free and delighted in running her fingers through the coarse chest hair; the texture so different that when she rubbed her breasts against him, the tingles went straight to her groin. Heavenly days! The sensations this man evoked in her were rocking her world.

Naked at last, they fell to the bed in a jumble of arms and legs, laughing, kissing, and caressing each other. She’d never thought of sex as fun, only as a necessity to consummate a relationship, but this sense of sharing and bonding between them filled her with a glorious awakening of her power as a woman. She delighted in arousing him, of being able to turn him on with the merest look or touch, as he did her.

Soon, all playfulness disappeared in the passion of the moment as their bodies joined together, working toward a common goal, that of pleasuring each other to fulfillment.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this brief glimpse into the lives of Shana, Kagan, and Baby J. As always, one lucky commenter will receive a free download at the end of the virtual tour. Don’t forget to leave your email address. :)

Relaunch Party! Spotlight on Maiden Behind the Mask

Tara Chevrestt has been one busy lady! She’s been writing up a storm and redoing some of her books for an entirely new launch. I couldn’t be happier for her. I’ve had the pleasure of reading Maiden Behind the Mask. Here is my review:

Maiden Behind the Mask was a delightful, and sometimes humorous, read from beginning to end. Catalina Rodriguez is a feisty young maiden, not adverse to skipping out on her own without a chaperone. During one of these forays into town, she is accosted by a would-be rapist and rescued by the handsome Ricardo Garcia. Rumor abounds when he sees her home and their betrothal is soon announced.

Catalina hates being a damsel in distress and learns to use a sword to protect not only herself, but others, during her nightly escapades. But keeping her secret becomes more difficult after she weds Ricardo, causing problems she hadn’t foreseen.

I won’t say anymore as I don’t want to spoil it for you, but this Spanish historical was a genuine pleasure to read. Tara’s writing style is unique. She’s known for her tough heroines and loveable heroes, and this book doesn’t disappoint.

Blurb:

When Catalina Rodriguez is attacked by a would-be rapist and rescued by the dashing Ricardo Garcia, she not only becomes more aware of the handsome man, but also vows that she’ll never be a damsel in distress again. Using the timeless method of blackmail, she convinces her uncle to teach her to fight and becomes a masked crusader in the night, saving other damsels from robbers and rough handling.

However, scandalous rumors and dwindling funds force Ricardo and Catalina to marry. Not immune to each other’s charms, their marriage starts fiery, but when one of Catalina’s nightly escapades results in dire consequences, she is forced to spurn her husband’s amorous advances…or reveal a secret that could turn him away from her forever.

Ricardo’s not a man to be cuckolded or left in the dark. Is his wife having an affair with El Capitan, the masked savior? If so…they will both pay.

Excerpt:

She tore her gaze away from the mare and said firmly. “Cinco pesos. And only because this yegua has fire, not because of your terms. Selena, pay him.”

Selena’s hand shook, but the pesos were transferred to the dirty palm. The man laughed with glee, the crowd dispersed, and Catalina was left with a dirty, starving horse.

“We shall get you fed and cleaned up.” She patted the mare’s neck. A cloud of dirt rose in the air, and Catalina struggled not to cough. “I shall call you La Reina, because once in my establo, I shall treat you like a queen. Your body may be beaten, but your spirit is not broken.”

“Catalina?” Her maid’s voice was tentative as it interrupted her quiet chattering. “Whatever possessed you—”

“Fetch me a mozo,” Catalina interrupted her. “Take the remaining pesos and fetch me a groom. La Reina is going to her castle.” She wasn’t offering more explanation than that. She didn’t owe anyone an explanation. She’d done what was right.

As her maid turned to comply, heading toward the livery, a loud pffffht rent the air. Catalina stared at her new acquisition in surprise.

Selena froze and swung around to admonish her charge. “Señorita! Your behavior has been questionable enough this day. Mind yourself.” She shook her head and her finger both before turning back to the task at hand.

Catalina heard her muttering as she sashayed away. She was too surprised and too tired to defend herself, but the breeze picked up, and a waft of foul air assaulted her. Catalina immediately tugged a delicate, lace handkerchief from her sleeve and placed it over her nose as she glared at the horse.

La Reina snorted and pawed the ground. Catalina could swear the mare was laughing at her. She merely shook her head. “Dios mío, and you let me take the blame for that?”

Pffffhht. Pfffht.

La Reina whinnied and bared her teeth as though she were smiling.
