Love-Death Lit 101

Colin Beasley, the owner of the Red Lion pub in Winchester, was out walking his spaniel (Wellington) at daybreak, when he saw a woman walking west in the direction of the Old Sarum Road. He probably wouldn’t have noticed her, if all of the skin on her chin and lower jaw hadn’t been missing and most of her hair, except for a light-brown clump that clung to what remained of her scalp. “Love’s a fine thing, boy, but a good hate will warm your belly on a cold night. If someone fucks with you, you pay him back ten times worse -- not just so that he knows it but so that everyone he knows knows it. That way they’re gonna know what kind of man you are and they’re gonna show you respect.”

Terry Bazes Dear David,
It will be wonderful to meet you in person -- and to meet your daughter too. I'm still scratching my head about what I'm going to say about the vagaries of writing literary fiction and getting it published.
Thank you, too, for sending me Gary Anderson's novel and for telling him about mine. I'm flying off to the Land of the Rising Sun in just a few days, but hope to read his book when I get back.
All the best,
Terry

David Lentz Dear Terry,
I registered for your Hunter College Event at their Writers' Conference: my daughter, Emily, is a junior and English major at Hunter, and she would also like to attend.
I also shipped a copy of "Best of All Possible Worlds" by Gary Anderson to you in Pleasantville. Gary is interested in reading "Lizard World."
I look forward to your comments on "BOAPW" and to meeting you at Hunter College in early June.
Cordially,
David

David Lentz Dear Terry,
I read about your forthcoming novel on your web site --congratulations on your new work.
If you are happy with your current publisher, that's great.
If not, I would be interested in talking with you about publishing your new novel with WordsworthGreenwich Press.
I am talking with our friend Gary Anderson about a brilliant new novel entitled BEST OF ALL POSSIBLE WORLDS as a sequel to Voltaire's "Candide."
I am building a small, literary imprint in Greenwich, which publishes genius works, like yours.
Please let me know if you want to talk more on the subject.
All of the best to you, my friend.
Cordially,
David B. Lentz
