World Building

One of the best ways a writer can improve their writing is to read. Reading allows writers to critique other writers work and shows them how they can improve their own writing. I just finished reading Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and I am most impressed by her world building. She does an excellent job in creating a belieable apocalyptic world in North America. As a reader, I was drawn into her world and rooted for Katniss to win.
If as an author, you would like to improve on your world building, which is the foundation for any book, read Hunger Games. I know this is an area I need to improve on and Suzanne Collins pushes me to strive to do better.

Books! Books! Books!

Although I've crossed over into the realm of being a writer, my first love will always be reading. I love romance, fantasy, horror, and young adults. I like to read paranormal or historical romance. I picked my first historical romance, Sweet Savage Love by Rosemary Rogers, at sixteen years old and was hooked. Vampires, ghosts, demons and angels are my favorite paranormals to read. I also love wizards and hobbits.
I look forward to hearing your suggestions on good books to read.
Right now, I'm reading Melissa Mayhue's Warrior Redemption. What are you reading? Have you read this one? Why or why not? Would love to hear from you.
