Charting a Course for American Education, the backstory to producing the Federal STEM education strategic plan of 2019-2023, is Jeff's third book, after Creating a STEM Culture for Teaching and Learning (NSTA Press, 2017) and The Game of Science Education (Allyn & Bacon, 2004). In late 2017 Jeff accepted a temporary appointment to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, on leave from Iowa's widely acclaimed statewide STEM education program he has directed on behalf of the governor since 2011.
