Winter Solstice Gem Elixir Cocktail

Every holiday season I post this recipe somewhere & its a big hit. Here’s my personal recipe for this special elixir. Makes one cocktail:

1 1/2 oz. of Crystal Head vodka (do you know about this vodka? It’s created from deep glacial aquifer water, quadruple-distilled then filtered over 500-million year-old Herkimer diamonds with no additives .
1/2 oz. orange-flavored liqueur, such as Cointreau
1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
Ice cubes made of Almandine Garnet Gem Elixir

splash of chilled club soda
splash of cranberry juice
1 raspberry + 1 almandine garnet for garnish

Yum, Yum! Enjoy.

2013 Dreams, Crystals & Winter Celebration

Although I don’t have any declared religious affiliation, I do feel I have a connection to natural celestial & earthly cycles. Therefore, I feel a strong pull to honor & celebrate our Mother Earth’s solstices & equinoxes.

Its almost time for Winter Solstice (here in the Northern Hemisphere), falling on Dec. 21 this year. Merry Summer Solstice to you in the South!!

Not to mention how special of a Winter Solstice this 1 is!! This is THE 2012 solstice made infamous by the Mayan Calendar. I’m sure you know all about that & have your own view on it. As for me…I feel it will mark the apex of an event that’s been taking place for some time…a shift of energy. I wrote more about what I feel may be going on here.

In fact, as we approach this all-important gateway, I’ve been reflecting back on what’s transpired so far, how I’ve been faring through this energy shift & cookin’ up what I want to manifest moving into 2013. So far, I’ve been pretty successful at this manifestation stuff & I intend to continue on that path for myself & my students!

Have you been doing this sort of thing too?

For the last 5 years I’ve been doing my annual Garnet Winter Solstice Meditation. Its just as yummy as it sounds.

Garnet is my go-to stone for this time of year as it helps me to focus on my meditation while helping me to entrain with the sort of vibrational frequencies that are a part of Mother Earth at this time of year. Specifically, Almandine Garnet. Here it is in all its red-delicious glory:

So why garnet?

Garnet has an inner warmth that you’ll enjoy cozying up to at this time of year. Many are affected by Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) at this time & garnet will sizzle that right on out so you can focus on the task at hand…bringing your desires to fruition.

BTW, have you seen an Almandine garnet in real life? Photos & video do it NO JUSTICE. It has a dazzling deep red color; reminiscent of the sacred Winter Solstice berry; holly.

Almandine garnet’s energy is all about safety, courage & vitality…perfect for dark winter months. It also helps us to connect to spirit & source energy.

My Winter Solstice Meditation

1. I go into my sacred space & light a few red candles & burn a combo of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg & ginger pure essential oils in an oil burner.

2. In a comfy position, usually in my papasan chair, holding a piece of almandine garnet (a 1″ tumbled piece is fine, doesn’t have to be huge) I work on going into an alpha brainwave state with deep breathing. BTW, alpha is perfect for getting into a creative state of mind. I then visualize entering the stunning garnet stone. (I have a new Get to Know Your Crystal eKit that assists you in doing just this & inducing alpha brainwaves…but you can certainly easily do this on your own).

3. I’ll stay in this meditation for 10-15 minutes or just whatever feels right, journaling afterwards any special messages I may have received.

4. Over the next few days, I will read over my journal entry adding to it as new meanings & revelations come to light.

What is a Shamanic dream crystal & Shamanic star stone & what are they used for?

Hey Chick Pea!

With my recent post on Crystals to Improve Dream Recall there was some confusion between Dream quartz & Shamanic Dream Crystal (stone) or Lodolite, which in turn often gets confused with Shamanic Star Stone aka Shaman Stone. Sheesh! Let’s make it confusing, why don’t we?

See, this is what I mean about all the various crystal property books making things confusing.

Don’t get me wrong! I love my crystal books but you need to learn to wade through some of the fluff & figure some stuff out for yourself.

Dream quartz is explained in the post I refer to above so I’ll leave that 1 there.

Shamanic Dream Crystal

Shamanic Dream Crystals/Stones (Lodolite) are usually used for enhancing daydreaming & Shamanic divining. Shamans have also been known to use these guys for vision quests & to bring about healings for others.

These stones have all the amazing qualities of clear quartz plus the additional vibrations of their different inclusions: Chlorite (the green parts) & iron. “Lodolite” is not a proper mineralogical term so don’t go spouting that off to your local mineral dealer. “Lodolite” comes from the Greek languange & means “muddy stone”. These babies are mined in the famous Minas Gerais region of Brazil. They can also have smokey quartz, phantoms and rutilated quartz too in it as well.

Its energy is very gentle & soft & makes a great crystal buddy for gazing, daydreaming, lucid dreaming, meditation & for Shamanic journeying, of course. They’re like a portal into another dimension. However, individuals who are not well grounded shouldn’t try to partake in these sorts of energy trips so use with caution.

Here’s something you can try:

1. Gaze into the stone; letting your eyes go out of focus…using “soft eyes”, allow yourself to drift into all the inclusions

2. Slowly close your eyes & allow the stone to guide you on a personal journey. See where it takes you.

Shamanic Star Stone aka Shaman Stone

There’s no confusion in how these stones look. The confusion is in the name: Shamanic Star Stone aka Shaman Stone or Moqui Marbles. The Moqui name comes from the Moqui children who used them in games around the Grand Canyon area in Utah.

These babies are a curiosity. Geologically, they’e simply iron oxide concretions, but we’re just not exactly sure how Mother Earth makes them. They’re made of a hematite outer shell with sandstone in the center.

Moqui Ice Cream Balls, anyone!?

Some believe them to be the most powerful stones on earth.

I feel they’re excellent at cleansing, balancing, grounding & making a deep connection with nature.

They’re also known to help strengthen your energetic sheath, helping to keep stray non-beneficial energies from attaching to your EMF!

So I hope that helped to clarify a few things or introduced you to some new stones you ‘d like to get to know!

Sparkly Crystal First Aid Kit

Boring Disclaimer attorney twists my arm to post- always consult a medical professional, no information here on this blog should be considered medical advice.

Today we have a guest post written by 1 of our beloved Crystalline Cohorts in our Certified Crystal Healer Course, Cindy King. She comes to us already quite knowledgeable about crystals & she SO IMPRESSED me with her Crystal First Adi Kit that I asked her to write up a blog post about it. Plus I like to get ideas to ramp up my first aid kit!! I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Take it away Cindy!!

CINDY: I’ve worked with crystals for over 30 years now, but recently decided to take a class and get an “official” crystal healer’s certification (Hibiscus Moon Crystal Academy Classes). It sparked an idea to expand my “first aid kit” with a few more crystals (I use this kit for myself, family and close friends).

NOTE: Carry a cell phone, in an emergency call 911. Always get out of the way of medical professionals and law enforcement.

Here’s some of the items I keep in my Crystal First Aid Kit:

Amethyst druse – Amethyst is nature’s tranquilizer, can use to brush gently and slowly (from head to toe) through aura to calm and soothe the person in the case of shock or anxiety producing situation, or have the person hold it or place it next to their body.
Bloodstone – to help stop bleeding, have the person hold one in each hand or hold stone in an area just above injury (NOT on the injury)
Blue cooling stone (i.e. blue lace agate) – for burns and fevers, hold over the burn and visualize a cooling breeze washing over the area while also drawing out the heat
Calcite – (any color) small pieces can be added to casts or ace bandages, it amplifies energy and can speed up healing for inflammation, bones, joints, and tissues (very useful for athletes)
Favorite grounding stone (or 2 – one for each hand or placed at both feet), I use two heart hematite but any grounding stone would work. Helps someone reconnect to earth, stop hyper ventilating, lower a spike in blood pressure, migraines, etc. Either place at the feet of the person or have them hold one in each hand.

Malachite – for pain, have the person hold one in each hand, or place the stone on the painful area, or in the case of an open wound hold over area (not touching the wound) and visualize drawing out the pain
Rose Quartz – (I have a heart shaped one, but can be any shape) for calming heart, have the person hold it or place next to them.

Ohm tuning fork – great for calming energies, gently strike the fork with palm of hand and slowly guide it over the person in a downward motion from head to toe (come off the body) and repeat from head to toe (3 to 6 times)
Quartz – small clear quartz crystals and band aids – crystals can be attached to the injured area (not on an open wound of course – but above the injury)

A large crystal point is useful for focusing healing energy and also for distance healing. For example, you see an accident or someone injured (a stranger) that you can’t approach, use the crystal point (discretely) to help channel healing energy. In the case of distance healing (whether stranger or known person if you can’t ask permission directly (i.e. person is unconscious, etc.), always intuitively ask permission of their higher self and proceed if you get an affirmative with the intent to always allow that person’s will to be in charge of how their body uses the healing energy being sent)

I also have a large clear quartz crystal heart, I used that for general all around healing and for amplying the healing energy of other smaller stones.
Rescue Remedy – drop or two under the tongue is good to help relieve anxiety, stress in an emergency

Selenite Wand (with fluorite tip) – nice tool for directing energy to meridian points or guiding energy along the meridians to promote healing and clear out energy blockages. Selenite is a good stone for removing energy blocks from physical and etheric bodies. Fluorite is healing, cleansing, protective and stabilizing stone, useful for grounding and harmonizing spiritual energy.
Tea Tree oil or antibacterial gel – disinfectant properties

From top left – 2 tumbled malachite, 3 tumbled blood stone, rose quartz heart, smoky quartz heart, double terminated crystal point (wire wrapped, can be used as a pendulum also), large clear quartz heart, 2 hematite hearts, selenite with fluorite tip massage wand, 2 amethyst druse (with white calcite), 1 amethyst heart, bandaids, antibacterial honey gel, small crystal points, Ohm tuning fork.

4 Crystals to Improve Dream Recall

Do you have trouble remembering your dreams?

We’ve all had those nights. You know you had a really powerful dream but you just can’t remember the details…or just have fleeting bits n’ pieces & can’t get the message out of it. And then even those fuzzy fragments float away as you really come out of your sleep. Oh! Wait!! What was that? Oh….shoot…its GONE.

Crystals can help with that, Sweet Pea!

First, you’ll want to set an intention to remember your dreams before you go to sleep, say a little prayer, state an affirmation or do a light meditation for that purpose. Then be sure you have a pen & paper or a recording device at your bedside so you are ready to record whatever you recall as soon as you wake up. Now, let’s get to the sparkly dream crystals.

4 Dream Crystals to Improve Your Dream Recall:

1. Amethyst

Amethyst is a workhorse of a crystal. Sheesh! What isn’t it good for? Plus, its inexpensive & easy to find & GORG-BEAUTIOUS!

Amethyst is known for easing communication, allowing for a smooth easy connection with Source energy & the spiritual realm. It allows us to let go & allow messages to come through our 3rd eye, making communication clear, letting us remember & interpret our dreams.

2. Dream quartz

Dream Quartz is a LUSCIOUS newly discovered quartz hailing from Columbia. Its quartz with inclusions of green prehnite & epidote inside. I’ll warn you though…its not an easy stone to find nor is it cheap. Its usually green in color. This piece also has lithium in it (great for calming you to sleep) giving it a pinky hue. Can we say HOT?!

This is a crystal that will take you on a dreamy magic carpet ride so get ready! Due tot he epidote it will attract the patterns & stories that yu’re putting out there & tell you a dream story to help guide you on your path. he prehnite inclusions will help in your communication with the spiritual realm. And of course, your recall will be much stronger after you awake.

3. Hemimorphite

This lovely blue magical crystal assists in emotional healing & communication with Source Energy while stimulating your pineal gland & 3rd eye to assist & receiving the dream-time messages & interpreting them. Its also known to calm your emotions & get them out of the way so you can see your messages clearly while recalling your dreams. It reminds me of glacial formations. Totally YUMMY!!

4. Herkimer diamond

Herkimer diamonds…despite their name, they’re relatively easy to get & not nearly as expensive. They’re actually a type of quartz form Herkimer, New Jersey & they are a go-to stone for any sort of dream work. They’re the perfect support for helping you to remember the messages & stories in your dreams. They’re also very useful tools for purifying your energy afterwards so you don’t have any heavy lingering energetic debris dragging around on you after certain types of dreams. A must-have for dream work…really.

Now, what to do with your crystals?

You can place 1 or more of these crystal under your pillow in a mojo bag or create a crystal grid with them…or do BOTH! Then R-E-L-A-X & go to sleep. Let the crystals do their job.

Crystal Healing Books Can Be Confusing

Here’s another great crystal healing question I received a little while back regarding the fact that many crystal books tell us different things about the properties of crystals. How do we know which ones to go by? So here’s the Q & A for you to get in on:

Q: I have a question about the healing properties that have been attributed to the various crystals. I have quite a few books that provide “definitions” and each one is different.

Some of the definitions are consistent for the common crystals, but others are widely different on others. And when I compare the healing property uses for humans -vs- animals, they are different.

Can you let me know how these various definitions came to be (did these people channel the information?) and why there is a different healing property when the same crystal is used with a person -vs- an animal? Thanks!

A: Most of the book info out there is based on either general properties that have been passed down from ancient info that applies to MOST of the population

it was channeled by the author or received in a meditation or by doing their own personal work with the crystal, thereby making that info personal to them. Having said that, I don’t know that the authors usually state that anywhere in their books *can’t remember anyone writing that, can you?*

So, that’s why I feel its so important to go with your own personal intuition for your own personal use. When it comes to treating others, go with the general properties, but if you feel that it’s not quite “hitting the spot” with them, then try to feel intuitively what will be best for the situation.

Are You Ready for a Crystal Challenge?

Join the Crystal Hottie Challenge!

Those of you subbed to my YouTube Crystal Channel know that last week I committed to pulling a crystal oracle card each day & working with a related crystal for that day.

7 Day Crystal Oracle Reading Series – Day 1

…& I did it for 7 days consecutively & posted each day on YouTube just like I said I would…surprised myself there! Commitment, Baby!

But what I really gained was totally unexpected. I got such insight into various energetic changes & emotions + a deeper relationship with those crystals that I chose to work with.

I got extra meditation time in & extra-special soul healing occurred…all b/c I took the time & committed to doing this.

I gained such gorgeous insights + revelations that I want to share this experience with all of you. I want you to experience it for yourselves. As a teacher, I know there is NOTHING better than experiential learning; the process of making meaning from direct experience.

And you will experience such DEEP MEANING from this. Trust moi.

So, you ready for this challenge, Crystal Hottie? Hmmmm?

Today, I challenge you to do your own 7 Day Crystal Reading Challenge. OK?

The Challenge:

I challenge you to pull an oracle card or crystal from a bag each morning upon waking, no matter how rushed you are, not matter what sort of mood you’re in. Just do it. It will help make things seem brighter. It did for me. Do you have the power to change your day? Yes, you doooos. Do it!

I want you to have a positive morning, Sweet Pea. If its not one already, you can make it so. Pull a card or a crystal. Simple enough, right?

If you get the message right away great. If not, you may need to read into a bit more. You may need that message to sink in a bit deeper and ask for the meaning again later in the day. That’s OK, grab your corresponding crystal & start working with it.

You can start with a mini meditation right away or simply put the crystal in your pocket to take along. You’ll be aligning with it all day, be open to the messages & remember to touch it from time to time to get the little reminders it will be sending you.

Simple, right? Sounds easy. BUT…don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got!

As you do this for a few days, it may get a bit more difficult. You’ll start to realize that it’s about proving to yourself that you can start something & you can stick with it, Chick Pea. I learned a totally different lesson that I had not expected to get….a lesson in COMMITMENT. Wow. I can do this & so can you.

Here are a few tips to help you along that worked for me:

Put a post-it note on your alarm clock or morning mirror
Place your oracle cards or crystal bag RIGHT NEXT to your bed so its the 1st thing you see in the morning
Keep yourself accountable. For every morning that I skip my crystal reading, I’ll make a $5 Kiva loan to help end poverty. Or what else can you dream up?
How about a crystal hottie buddy? Can we buddy up below in the comments? CALLING ALL CRYSTAL HOTTIES!! Rallying the troops! Keep each other accountable.
I’ll tell you what. Declaring it on YT in my video (as I did above) made me SUPER accountable. Do it! Or blog it or Facebook it, whatever. Just declare & watch the magic happen!
How about a sparkly reward? I’m still thinking about my reward for doing this. How about a new glittery crystal, or a class or workshop or a nice relaxing spa treatment?
