The narrative does not jump from one character to the next. A reader could enjoy this book without having read the first three. That said, it propels the overall Devil's Fire story toward its eventual conclusion. This standalone story is a key piece of the puzzle, and crucial in Kate Lindsay's evolution.(less)

"I’ve finally managed to return to this series after a 2 year gap. When it comes to pirate novels, I enjoy lots of cutlass fighting, naval battles, treasure hunting and a bit of romance mixed in. The Devil’s Tide managed to deliver all of this and mor" Read more of this review »

Not for the faint of heart; this book does not hold back on the, sometimes very gruesome, way of life on a pirate ship. Interesting characters and very descriptive scenery. The story takes the reader back to " Read more of this review »

“Hey Jim, I was wonderin’… whaddaya think of my mustache?”

Great companion to the film, with a wealth of additional character scenes and backstory. Fingers crossed for an Inglourious Basterds novelization.

“I'm my own boss and my boss is a total ass.”
Aisha Tyler

“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.”
Stephen King

“If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
Stephen King

“I have known many gods. He who denies them is as blind as he who trusts them too deeply. I seek not beyond death. It may be the blackness averred by the Nemedian skeptics, or Crom's realm of ice and cloud, or the snowy plains and vaulted halls of the Nordheimer's Valhalla. I know not, nor do I care. Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content.”
Robert E. Howard and L. Sprague De Camp, Queen of the Black Coast

“Books are no more threatened by Kindle than stairs by elevators.”
Stephen Fry
