If the writing doesn't flow, I go for a walk, practice tai chi, talk on the phone or make a cup of coffee and sit outside in the fresh air.
Changing the energy is the best technique for me.

Sometimes the writing is awful. Or I can't seem to put the emotion or feeling into words. Either I take a few days off or I do a short (believe me I can't do long) meditation. It's calming and grounding.

Look out the door and see those horses writing to be fed. That inspires me to get busy! Seriously, I started writing at night after my day job to support my addiction to saving animals. It's just become such a big part of who I am now, that I go into See Carolyn’s answer.

Melody Beattie
“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
Melody Beattie
