I collect a great amount of notations, which may be just a word, a phrase, or a whole page, or a draft of a scene. The ideas may come from my head, research, or observations. They end up in notebooks, manila folders, computer files or bookmarks. Some are sorted for a certain character, time, or topic. I sometimes look through the information, but when actually writing many somehow find their way into the story. So, I guess the time spent sorting and organizing is worth it.(less)

Finally got to "Lacy Eye" by Jessica Treadway, so her "How Will I Know You?" quickly got on my list.
Enjoyed Melissa Bowersock's "Ghost Walk," and added book 2 in her new series, "Stone's Ghost" to my TBR.
Others of which I am deciding which to get to first are:
"Why is the Foul Pole Fair" by Vince Staten," a must read for baseball fans. I know because I have started it.
"The Guest Room" by Chris Bohjalian, because it is by Chris Bohjalian.
"Blood Red Homicide" by Gail Baugniet. (I'm a Pepper Bibeau fan)
Going to plow through some more of David Foster Wallace in my copy of "The DFW Reader."
Will re-read Eckhart Tolle's "Power Of Now" and "A New Earth." Because they helped me the first and second times.

   Resolution Dissolution, Revisited 2018

Goodbye, 2018. You were not nice. But, thanks for all of the positives. There were many.
However, the abundance of unbelievable and inane activity really pissed me off.
Eagerly awaiting midnight, 12-31-2018.

Y'all know I hate and do not read the glut of Best Of, Worst Of, Top Ten, and other such opinion lists that appear at any year's end. I don't try to make my own either, though I do have favor...

Mike Bove After finishing Barbara Kingsolver's "Pridogal Summer" I read many of the fine reviews of it here at Goodreads. I agree with the general assessment. Most of the reviewers are big Kingsolver fans, as I am. Most agree it is not her best work as far as reading entertainment goes. There is more about moths and goats than I need to know. The three stories that make up the novel are fine in themselves and their connection is well crafted. The writing is poetic, thoughtful, intelligent, and insightful, which is my main draw to Kingsolver. Statements like these are what I treasure in her writing: "A bird never doubts its place at the center of the universe." "Every quiet step is thunder to beetle life underfoot."
I enjoyed this book very much. It was a bit tedious at times (moths, goats, chestnuts, coyotes, weeds) but I can put up with that for the gems of language that I find along the way.

Mike Bove If you haven't already checked out "The New Book Review" site, you should if you are an author or reviewer. It is the blog of Carolyn Howard-Johnson, author of "The Frugal Book Promoter: How to Do What Your Publisher Won't." It is a popular site where one can post a review for free. www.TheNewBookReview.blogspot.com
