A Bridge to Tomorrow
Who loves the dark when it feels like we can’t turn the light on the moment we want to? Maybe that is why emotional darkness is so hard….we know the light switch that will turn us “back on” is not easily accessible. Life can be hard, dark, depressing and difficult. It can also be wonderful, exhilarating, and full of promise. We cannot always choose the degree of difficulty that we will experience in our lives but we can always choose to find light. Light is everywhere around us – even if we temporarily can’t see it. It’s like being in a cave underground with the absence of light immediately around us but knowing that there is a passage from the cave that will return us back to the light. Most of the time, light does not automatically come to us. When it comes to light, we have to be seekers. I’ve been in the dark before. I know how difficult it can be. I’m also proof positive that when we are willing to fight and willing to seek for light – that the light will come and the most brilliant light that we will find will be the light that burns within us.

Life is an Adventure!
I had to share this meme! It brought such joy to my heart! When my father was still alive – I had a standing joke with my dad that difficult events were not trials; they were adventures. I remember the first big “adventure” I had with my dad. My grandmother was very ill and my family and I were headed home to Butte, Montana after Thanksgiving. Our plan was for my dad to follow us home and then he would park his truck and he and I would drive to Idaho to see my grandma. My husband had driven ahead of us to Billings for business and the kids and I had joined him a few days later so we could spend Thanksgiving with my family. Our family caravan was driving home from Billings to Butte and my dad was following in his truck behind my family.(This was in the days before cell phones.) My dad started having mechanical problems with his truck. My dad flagged us with his lights and we turned around to check out why he had pulled over. After determining that my dad’s truck issues were not going to be a remedied without additional parts, my husband took our three oldest children and headed home. I stayed behind with our youngest daughter to provide transportation for my dad. My dad and I ended up “on the road” for a couple of days while he tried to locate the parts he needed to repair his truck. The conditions were cold and miserable and I had little to keep my young daughter entertained with. However, no matter how exasperated we felt – we joked that we were on an adventure and our trial became a game. In our “adventure” game, the first one to complain would lose. After that experience, all of our difficulties became adventures. Neither one of us would ever complain to each other – we would only talk about our “Adventures”. How grateful I am for my dad teaching me how to have an adventure. Adventures demand a different mindset. Adventures have no room for complaints and negative outlooks. Adventures are new experiences that can thrill us, teach us and bring us to new vistas! Now, as I look back on all of my “adventures”, I realize that adventures can be learned from and looked at from a learning perspective much sooner than trials can. Trials can make us feel like we are being treated unfairly. Trials can nudge us to shrink and withdraw from life. Adventures remind us that each positive step we make in our climb is a step up. Adventures help us look forward to the view from the next summit. Life is full of stretching experiences – I prefer that mine be adventures!

Lift above the Opposition!
Doesn’t it seem sometimes likes there is another kind of gravity that tries to pull us down? I’m talking about the opposition that so frequently addresses our lives. There is a myth trying to perpetuate itself in the world – that myth says that we can accomplish amazing things without disciplining ourselves or with little or no effort. The truth is that everything that is worthy, worthwhile, and important takes effort and usually plenty of it. The good news is that we are always rewarded in some amazing way when we persist and overcome! remember that a kite only flies with wind – and so do we!

Hugs
Sometimes I think that the world is suffering from a bankruptcy of physical affection. I’m not talking about anything inappropriate. I understand we all need boundaries. However, I wonder what kind of difference it would make if everyone got at least 10 hugs from 10 different people every day. (One of my most important love languages is probably being exposed here) I think back to the days when I was younger and I know that a quick hug with some words of affirmation like “You are awesome” or “I Love You” or “I’m so glad to see you” would have buoyed many a difficult day. I say we all give someone a hug today and tell them to pass it on!

We Are and Always Have Been Eternal Beings
I reflect a lot on what I saw in heaven versus what I see on earth. The difference is astounding. What a difference in this world we would see if we could (would) see ourselves as we truly are – beings of light, purpose and potential. As we will listen to our hearts, we will access our light and know our purpose. With work and reliance on our Creator, we can each achieve our potential. That potential is different for each one of us but that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that we each become that special version of our self that we were designed to become. For me, that includes many things but the very most important to me are becoming the best wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, friend and friend to myself that I am capable of becoming. As I get a handle on that, everything else will be bonus material!

Planted in Our Hearts
When the angel showed my heart (center) and explained to me that I needed to remove the rocks that surrounded my heart, I had no idea of how important my heart was. Now I do – everything from our existence is stored there. Our mortal minds can forget but our spirit never will. Everything we need to know about God, about who we are and what we are meant to be is stored in our heart. Once we free our heart of hurt, pain, and anything else that may be blocking it – our ability to receive truth from our inner light will open our lives to love and abundance that we may find difficult to comprehend.
