How very wrong I was

And another thing . . .

We're adjusting to the fall schedule of sports and music lessons and after-school clubs and all that business. I must have contracted some kind of heat-induced amnesia over the summer because I had forgotten that the daily grind is such a  . . . grind.

I am looking forward to the return of some good shows, though. NBC's Parenthood is back this week and I have a thing or two to say to Julia. You can read all about it on Huffington Post Parents.

So twerking may not be my thing, but I have other talents. Did you know that I am a master of familial communications? It's true. Here are the ever-so-subtle ways I let my husband know he's in the doghouse. It's a gift, really. I've also perfected my Mom Looks. You only have one Mom Look? Oh dear, you have some catch up to do. Let's start with this pre-test. It's a good thing NickMom and I are here to teach you. Class dismissed. For now.

Question for the ages

Who has time to ponder philosophical questions? It's summer! The kids are home. We're driving them back and forth and packing and unpacking and going places and coming back. We need to simplify to survive.

In the Huffington Post, I make the case for scaling back your summer vacation plans--you might not make it through that novel, but you can make it through a haiku.
