Beatitude: Cult Book?
Is Beatitude the next cult book? BookSexy founder Tara Olmsted thinks so. Olmsted founded BookSexy, a book review blog, as an outgrowth of "wanting to connect people with books they'll love." Her latest love: Beatitude, which she feels is "one of those books that might just build a cult following." We can hope!
Olmsted also loves the name of Beatitude's narrator, Harry Charity, which she places "in my TOP 10 of best character names EVER!)."
Here's an excerpt from her wonderfully perceptive...

"A reminder that love is love"
Tara Cheesman founded BookSexy, a book review blog, as an outgrowth of "wanting to connect people with books they'll love." Her latest love: Beatitude, which she awarded 4 stars on Goodreads in a very perceptive review:
"Beatitude is a reminder that love is love, regardless of whether it's romantic or platonic. Closs weaves together a beautiful and complicated narrative around this idea. He's created a novel that shouldn't be pigeonholed as any one thing: as a love story, gay literature, a...

"You Would Not Have Minded More"
"Beatitude is not a romance but this doesn't mean it is not a love story…" "It's bittersweet but not sad…" "Very easy to read…" "You arrive at the end with a feeling you would not have minded" more.
Just a few excerpts from the latest wonderful review, this one by Elisa Rolle, who writes daily book reviews as well as posts about authors, history, photo essays and articles about her extensive travels on her hugely popular LiveJournal site. Rolle is also a top reviewer on Amazon. How does she...

"Strongly Recommended"
Lori Hettler, the "indie-lovin' mastermind" behind The Next Best Book Blog and The Next Best Book Club (TNBBC) on Goodreads, has just reviewed Beatitude and awarded it "4 Stars— Strongly Recommended."
"Beatitude," writes Hettler, "demonstrates Larry Closs's sensitivity to the inner turmoils of love, and also showcases his own love of the Beat Generation." She zeroes in on the novel's emotional heart and universality, noting that "Beatitude, simply put, is an exceptionally well written debut...

The Next Review
In the new issue of New York's Next Magazine, Jameson Fitzpatrick wrote what I consider to be one of the best and most insightful articles about Beatitude yet, with a great headline: "Two Guys, a Girl and Allen Ginsberg." Yes, the article was extremely favorable, but Fitzpatrick also understood and communicated what I hoped to achieve. An author couldn't ask for more. Here's an excerpt:
"Closs' apparent familiarity with the subject matter, skillful depiction of New York and incorporation of...

Love and Love
Something to be thankful for: A new and very positive review by book reviewer and blogger Amos Lassen. Here's an excerpt:
"Closs masterfully uses dialogue to give us his story and it is dialogue that is filled with passion and the joy of the men discovering a mutual attraction for a time gone by and for each other. We look at fascination for the ideal, the place where we want to be able to be even though we know we may never reach it. I really loved seeing everything fall into place and the...
