Stalked
Louis lurched left and right, but did not see the source of his fear. A crowded subway car should be safe. But his crotch cringed, and he sensed its nearness. The instant panic penetrated him was the moment he understood he was the source.
He realized he would kill again. Who would it be?

In the Mist
Out of the dark wood, of Garth, came the dragon, armed with flaming steel and impenetrable armor, the stench of death upon his breath, the promise of pain in his crimson eyes.
And not one hero to meet the demon face to face; not one but I.

Dragon Sout
Scale glimmers, pearly gray, crescents moons of abalone waves. Webbed wings coral-veined, mottled splashes of seaweed jade. His heart burns with dragon’s blood, lungs bursting breath, fingers dissolving into dragon flesh. Bodies merge, mingling, sharing sinew, bone, beating to the dragon’s seaborne song.
“Breathe,” her voice trembles. He inhales her, breathing, freeing the dragon soul.

The Gilded Cage
When Cassandra finished her incantation, the window bars transformed into scrollwork and the opaque glass vanished. The moonlight seemed bright after weeks of just candlelight.
The door flew open, “Don’t go,” Andrew called, “I’ll change.”
“Too late,” she said, sprouting golden wings as she stepped into the swirling stardust. Then she was gone.
He wept.

Paradoxen
John chafed at restrictions against using time travel science to change history.
Then he found that odd brass bottle and rationalized, “This ain’t science, it’s magic.”

Death the challenger
“The Lord of Death waits for no one, young king.”
His grave dripped shadow cloaked the bed I slept it. I grinned, for I’d been waiting.
“What are you doing?” The shade howled, as I slipped my dagger into the darkness.
“Greeting death. Not as a friend, but as a challenger!”
“I see,” he laughed.

Turnabout
“What the hell!” Mack said, hand between his legs. His much indulged manhood was missing.
He squealed like a girl when he found he sported breasts, once his favourite party favours.
“A woman!” He cursed and remembered the gypsy girl cursing him after a rough ride.
In horror Mack realized the man approaching was him.
A. Partridge.

Faeries in the Wood
It was an eerie feeling, knowing she was being watched, by watchers yet unseen.
Silence settled over the woods, the woodland creatures gone still…in fear, or anticipation?
Suddenly, a rustle of leaves, a snap of a twig, and she knew she wasn’t alone.
Gawtcha, the Out of the Blue Faery, had come out to play.
Deborah Lean.

Pounce
The maniacal laughter emanated from the shadows before making its way towards me.
A dark cloaked figure with tan skin and fiery crimson eyes poked its head out into the light and smiled a ghastly smile. I let out a horrific shriek as the monster pounced and sank its teeth into my neck.
Draining me.

Here Today
“Gone tomorrow,” is all she said when her head hit the bed.
Lost and lonely she wept, silk sheets deep debt. She clutched herself and groaned, “How could I have been so stupid and slept with his brother.”
The house sold quickly, he wanted her out. “How fast this one ended,” she cried.
