Did You Win a Book This Week (Or Last?)

First off, Happy Birthday to me. Happy Mother's Day to my mom. And Happy Sunday to all of you!

I've been a slacker on announcing book winners, so here are two weeks' worth. Did you win something? If you see your name, please email me HERE with your snail-mail info and I'll get your book on its way!

GALENA won a copy of Kendall Grey's Inhale. Galena, this is an ebook and not a print book, so let me know what format you'd like.

SARAH ELIZABETH won Andrew Fukuda's The Hunt.

JENNIFER (Kalman) won thi...

Q&A with Kendall Grey--and win INHALE

Holy hotness, Batman! It's paranormal romance day at Preternatura, with not a vampire or werewolf in sight. But exotic sea creatures? Yep. Sexy rock'n'rollers? Got one for ya. Today, meet debut author Kendall Grey, whose book INHALE is more than just a paranormal romance. It's also a good read for a good cause, as Kendall is donating all the profits from the sale of the Just Breathe trilogy (Inhale is book one) to programs that educate people about whales and the survival issues they face. An...

Royal Street, Chapter 3, with Easter Eggs

First, I'm over at my friend Lynnette Labelle's blog today HERE, talking about writing and books and other stuff. Stop by and leave a comment if you have a chance, and support both me and Lynnette!

The enhanced version of Chapters 1-3 of Royal Street have been up at the tor.com website for a while HERE, but I wanted to put extra enhanced versions up on this site as well. Each week (usually on Wednesday except for this week) I'll be running a new chapter's worth of behind-the-sce...

Q&A with Andrew Fukuda (and win The Hunt)

A little bird told me an advance copy of RIVER ROAD is winging its way toward me. Wonder what I should do with it? Any ideas?

In the meantime, I'd like to welcome a great author to Preternatura today. Andrew Fukuda used his background working with immigrant teens in Manhattan's Chinatown to craft Crossing, his first book, which was selected by the American Library Association Booklist as an Editor's Choice, Top 10 First Novel, and Top 10 Crime Novel in 2010. This week, he releases The Hunt, fi...

New Releases, Reader's Choice, & Jewelry!

It’s a pretty quiet week for new releases—second week of the month always is—and we’re heavy on YA titles. But read on to see what’s out in the spec fiction world this second week of May. Also coming up later this week: on  Wednesday, a Q&A and giveaway with YA author Andrew Fukuda re: his new book, The Hunt. On Thursday, some new Royal Street Easter Eggs, for Chapter 3. And on Friday, author Kendall Grey Q&A, plus a giveaway of her awesome paranormal Inhale—and all the proceeds...

Would You Date an Undead Pirate?

I returned late last night from the final leg of the Royal Street On the Road book tour, so I'm slowly catching up. Preternatura will be back on its daily schedule tomorrow, with a rare Tuesday Reader's Choice contest. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, I'm over at the FRESH FICTION blog today, talking about everybody's favorite pirate, Jean Lafitte. Check it out!

It's Time for a Ghost Hunt! Big Pr*zes

TIME FOR A GHOST HUNT!
I've hidden a big green ghostie somewhere on the website, and along with my fellow authors at the Paraposse, we're hosting some huge prizes for those who hop to the blog sites and collect the URLs for the ghosts.

Once you find the ghost on the site (it might be on the, ahem, books page), go HERE for the Ghostly Headquarters. Collect the ghost URLs from the blog hop sites, including mine, enter them at this link, and wait for the prizes!
And remember, if you haven't entered...

Hey, Portland! I'm Coming Your Way

Are you in the Portland/Beaverton, Oregon, area? Come out to Powell's Books tonight (Thursday, May 3) at 7 p.m. I'll be reading from ROYAL STREET, showing Hurricane Katrina photos, signing books.

I don't know anyone in Portland and it's my first trip there, so at least come out and laugh at my Southern accent! Don't make me sit there by myself :-)

Royal Street, Chapter 2, with New Easter Eggs!

The enhanced version of Chapters 1-3 of Royal Street have been up at the tor.com website for a while HERE, but I wanted to put extra enhanced versions up on this site as well. Each Wednesday I'll be running a new chapter's worth of behind-the-scenes comments. So next Wednesday, tune in for annotations on Chapter 3. Of course, after chapter three, I won't actually be running the text of the book, but will identify where in your book you can find the text that is annotated.

I thin...
