Nadine grew up in the tiny town of Molteno which is nestled between a couple of mountains in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, but she currently lives in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth with her son, her husband and two step children.

While she knows she should technically get a "real" job, she can't imagine being happy doing anything but playing with new characters and creating lives for them.

Her favorite things include friendship, reading, blogging, photography, ballroom dancing, long debates on all kinds of subjects, cupcakes, cookie dough and open fires.

When I'm not writing it is because I am not allowing myself to write. And when I am writing it is awesome. (less)

It sort of forces a more three dimensional view of the world, I think. And writing just helps you detangle your brain sometimes. In many ways that is a particularly great benefit, although I do on the smallest of occasions find myself worrying about my own transparency being revealed through not only what I write but what I choose to write about. Luckily I seem to be able to remind myself that it's ok to let yourself shine through sometimes. I don't really hide too many parts of myself when it comes to life in general so there's no reason I should try to hide anything in my writing. (less)

July is the New January

Remember back in March when we thought we had to get through three weeks of lockdown and then life would be cool again? Yeah that fantasy was lovely for about 3 minutes and then…

Well? It’s July already!

And seriously I need to let go of the “after the pandemic is over” idea. Because guys, this nonsense is eating our lives! Or mine at least.

So I need to force the reset myself a little. I’ve got to a

A delightful prequel to Mr Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore and I’m glad I made the effort to get my hands on it. I love the sort of modern-day adventureness of it. Short but definitely sweet ❤️

Felt a little bit too relevant reading this story since it sort of currently feels like the end of the world. I love Jostein Gaarder’s mind. I imagine reading these in the original language must be really special. So casually magical. I love that.

Definitely worth reading if only for the “makes you think” factor. I struggled with the characters who felt a little caricature-ish at first but then I realized that that was kind of the point and felt impressed by it. All in all a worthy read. Light ...more

“Isn't that the tragedy of growing up though? One day you wake up and realize that everything you are and everything you feel is not much different from what everyone else feels.”
Nadine Rose Larter, Coffee at Little Angels

“Loving Sarah was like reading a particularly good book. That pressing and overwhelming need to just devour it as fast as possible is matched only by the need to savour it slowly and completely, lest all come to an end too soon. The all-consuming emotions are so many and varied that it is almost impossible to pick out one for a few minutes attention. They mainly stay jumbled and unattended, and for the most part not entirely understood or satisfied. But then, maybe it is in the understanding of our love for someone that the love itself disappears altogether. If so, then I don't want to understand, and I remain content to simply experience her. Somehow, the more I learn about Sarah, the better I understand myself.
And the more I fall in love.”
