Unfortunately, many of the records from the first part of the 20th Century, especially TDI's records related to paranormal investigations, have disappeared or been misplaced over the years, so it's tedious work, but I'm making progress. Still hoping to have something in print by the end of the year. Wish me luck!(less)

Handprints on Hubble: An Astronaut's Story of Invention

Most astronaut books are about, well, astronauts. Where they came from. What their parents were like. Who they married, why they divorced, and how much they like airplanes. By contrast, Kathy Sullivan’s new book Handprints on Hubble: An Astronaut’s Story of Invention is as purposeful as she is. It’s the story of her career at NASA, of course, but it focuses consistently on the projects she was... Read more of this blog post »

I liked this a lot. At the same time, it reads a bit like a Ripley's Believe It or Not for grownups, focused on things like the history of breast cancer surgery and the regenerative power of bone cells. Nice, fairly breezy survey of a whole bunch of ...more

OK this probably isn't a "real" 4-star book, as it's a little thin on plot, but I can't help it: Berke Breathed, as he was known back in the old UT days, is just funny. It's a nice little change-of-pace Christmas book for young and old, easily ...more

Walt Whitman
“This is what you shall do; Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body.”
