I have several short pieces published in anthologies and journals, such as Vine Leaves Literary Journal, 100 Stories for Queensland, 100 RPM, Fangtales, From Stage Door Shadows, and Halcyon Magazine. While my published works are for adults, I primarily write for children, and I'm active in the New England chapter of SCBWI (Society for Book Writers and Illustrators).

Since February 2014, I've worked as a Publishing Editor's Assistant at Vine Leaves Literary Journal.

I was disappointed that Jessie didn't know her boys better. There were clues I picked up that she didn't. By the time the one said he arrived early and that didn't get into her head, I didn't get why it wasn't plainly obvious to her. LA was stereotyp ...more

I didn't love this one as much. Sabrina's waffling over the two boys got to be a bit much, and it just got plain weird with Roz around. There were bright spots--Lillith, and Ambrose and Prudence especially. I like Nick Scratch's development too.

This book almost focuses on Jordan as much as Drew, I think. It's a new year--Jordan, Drew, and Liam are older. They're starting to deal with harder things like puberty and the idea of dating. But it also means tackling with topics like race on a dee ...more

This book didn't grab me as quickly as Dumplin'. I even put the book down to read another in between. Millie didn't seem as strong a main character as Willowdean, and Callie was pretty unlikeable. But I warmed up over time. As I kept going, I got int ...more

The "what lane" theme is heavy here and works on a number of levels. I wonder if Maldonado would write this differently post George Floyd because I believe Stephen would know about Black Lives Matter even pre-Floyd. I found that the most most implaus ...more
