Book Review: The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Synopsis:

My Review:
I don’t tend to stray too far from my paranormal fancies. So to read a thriller, was quite a big step for me. It was recommended to me by a couple of people, and I saw that it was getting a lot of ‘face time’ on the best seller list – so I thought, bugger it, I’m going to give it a go! I’m so glad I did. It was one of those books that I simply couldn’t put down – and although I know that is a massive cliche, and I personally hate cliches, but it’s true.
From a writer’s perspective, it was very cleverly written from three people’s perspectives at different times through the story, a kind of tapestry to show the whole picture. The characters were deep, well thought through, yet completely normal people – so it made the plot that much more believable. I loved the pace of the book, and it actually did something to me, that any other book hasn’t done (so far) I can’t say what it is, for fear of ruining it for you, but you just have to read it and post a comment to me and let me know if you got it too…
The front cover is clever, as the train has a massive part to play in the story – although I’m guessing that thrillers are not as open to fun and vivid covers that paranormal books are.
Overall, I’d give The Girl on the Train, 5 out of 5 stars – a perfect English thriller that captures your attention and won’t let it go – be warned, if you start this book, you’d better have the time to give it!
