First and foremost, I love to read! Fantasy, sci-fi, steampunk, historical, romance, and horror are my favorites.

I am an acquisitions editor for City Owl Press as well as an award winning author of paranormal, fantasy, steampunk, historical romance, and YA. When I'm not reading, editing, writing, or surfing my social networking sites, I can be found on the slopes, the hiking trails, or paddleboarding. As a native Oregonian, I enjoy the outdoors almost as much as the worlds I create on the pages. No need to travel to the Great Northwest, though, you can find me on my website, and the first Monday of every month on Twitter where I co-moderate the #WritersRoad chat.

Changed Plans & News

Unfortunately, like so many of you, my plans for travel have been cancelled. These are crazy, uncertain times we are living in and I'm just trying to roll with it and learn from it as best I can. No trip to Montana for the Special Ops con for me this summer. Hopefully, they will hold it next year, and if so I will definitely attend then.

A good thing for me that is coming out of all this down time Read more of this blog post »

“Tis alright. I'm not going to hurt ye. Ye're one of me kind, I wouldn't dare," he said.
So he could sense what she was too. That was encouraging, sort of.
"And what if I wasn't?" she asked.
The young man chuckled, a warm sound that eased her mind a bit. "Well I wouldn't ravish ye if that's what ye're worried about. I'm a Celt, not a barbarian," he said.

“The stars could have burned out around us, the moon could have fallen from the sky, and I wouldn't have known it. Not when he leaned indecently close and pressed his cheek against mine to murmur, "Tell me a secret."
I wanted him to tell me how he stopped time like that. How he read my mind. I wanted to admit I wondered if thoughts of me troubled him when he lay awake at night. But I could make none of that come to my lips....
Instead... I whispered back, "I've seen the future."
He didn't laugh. He didn't mock, not like he had done at Privalovna's performance. In the middle of our waltz, he stopped, nose to nose with me. He uncovered me with a look that somehow bared him, too.
And his question told me everything - that he stopped time because he needed me, that he read my mind because we were one. That I troubled his nights, indeed, because what he asked revealed it all.

Diann Shaddox Hi Heather,I'm introducing my new book, A Faded Cottage, a SC love story.Quaid Witherspoon is a man turning fifty, a man with success and money, a world acclaimed artist, but a simple feat of holding a paintbrush turns Quaid’s life upside down
when fate steps in. I'm spreading the word about Essential Tremors and for each book sold a donation will be given back to the IETF. Thanks
