Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao: It’s Time

Who will win? After years of anticipation, “The Main Event” has arrived. Tonight in Las Vegas Nevada, Floyd Mayweather goes against Manny Pacquiao in what many anticipate as being the greatest boxing match in a very long time.

Manny Pacquiao is one of the greatest fighters of all time. His legacy will be an awesome one, and he’s doing a nice job of portraying a good guy. He has the inside, hard-punching style that could possibly hand the undefeated Mayweather his first professional loss. However, Mayweather will come out on top.

Both of these fighters are the real deal, and they both fight with styles that will make it difficult for the other fighter.

However, Mayweather is closer to his prime than Pacquiao. Also, Mayweather is a master at counter punching. Not to say this will happen tonight, but we have already seen a counter punch knock Pacuiao’s lights out.

Manny Pacquiao will have to get inside and knock Mayweather out if he is to win. The longer the fight goes, the more it should play in to Mayweather’s favor. The size and the reach also go to Mayweather.

My choice on paper is clear, but in this sport one actually has to fight the fight before a decision is made. Whatever the case, this should indeed be one for the history books. And no matter who wins, I hope they do it again.

2-Year-Old Shoots Himself in the Face

Arizona police state that a 2-year-old boy shot himself in the face with his father’s hand gun.

The child allegedly found the gun wrapped in bedsheets in the parents bedroom.

Sergeant Shari Howard reported the boy fired a round that entered his face and exited through his own head. Peoria Police Department have filed no criminal charges as of now.

The infant is in critical, but stable condition at a local children’s hospital. Doctors removed some of the child’s skull to help with swelling.

“All I can say is that he is very lucky to be alive right now,” said Sergeant Howard.

The father was at work when this went down. The child’s grandmother watched TV in the living room, and the baby’s aunt washed dishes in the kitchen.

The victim played with his 7-year-old brother when the gun fired. In a frenzy, the aunt placed the call to 911.

“My baby nephew got shot in the face with a gun,” she said.

The police report that the family is cooperating fully with the investigation. Sounds like an average family with a handgun in the house. It’s hard to say if it was a bad choice for the father to have a gun in the first place without knowing the full circumstances.

Whatever the case, he made a poor choice in where to store his gun and his ammunition. We have a right to protect ourselves and our families from the bad guys, but at the same time don’t put the weapon in child’s hands. Children are curious beings. This is a clear case of bad parenting.

Let’s hope the kid pulls through and leads as much of a normal life as possible.

Cook County Weed Reform Announcement Falls on 420

What a way to celebrate the 420 Holiday in Chicago, huh?

Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez conducted a news conference to announce additional reform to the weed laws.

Her announcement fell on April 20th, which is considered by many as National Weed Day. Sounds like the perfect time to make such and announcement, but spokeswoman Sally Daly called it “pure coincidence.”

To sum up the latest reform, the States Attorney will no longer prosecute cases where people are caught with misdemeanor amounts of weed. Instead they will seek help for repeat, nonviolent offenders.

“We potentially could ask for treatment for those cases,” Daly said. “Currently, our big emphasis is pushing toward treatment.”

Previous reform came on 2012. Police currently have the freedom to give tickets for possession of up to 15 grams of marijuana. The fines range from $200 to $500. Unfortunately, the ratio of tickets to arrest by Chicago’s Finest hasn’t been fair.

Dan Linn Linn, executive director of the Illinois National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, lauded the state’s attorney’s stance on pot, noting the sizable racial disparity in the first implementation of the ticketing ordinance, with more whites being ticketed and minorities being arrested (Chicago Tribune).

Alvarez
is expected to also talk about helping people that use other recreational drugs like Ecstasy, cocaine and heroin.

They can throw those other drugs in the speech if they want to. Position it however they like. This announcement is primarily about weed reform, and it falls on the National Weed Holiday. It makes sense, because most people want reefer to be a legal recreational drug, anyway. Alcohol is a million times more harmful.

“Just Got Paid” – Johnny Kemp

It has been confirmed that Johnny Kemp passed away. “Just Got Paid” was an enormous hit, and is an all time classic jam. Produced by Teddy Riley at a time when all he had to do was breath on a track and that would make it a hit. Kemp was 55 years old.

He was scheduled to be on the Tom Joyner Fantastic Voyage cruise this weekend, however The Root got up on a statement from the company that handles the cruise, Rich Media.

“We have received confirmation that Johnny Kemp has passed away. We do not have any other details. We can confirm he was not on the ship for the Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage Cruise,” Reach Media stated.

Details are still unfolding about the Bahamian singer’s untimely passing. Kemp’s body was found floating on a beach on Montego Bay according to TMZ.

“Just Got Paid” is still an anthem for those who get paid on Fridays and don’t work weekends. This feel good song is loved by so many, that you don’t have to get paid on a Friday to enjoy it.

Our condolences to Johnny Kemp’s family.

Zebra’s Escape like the Horses on Black Jesus

Pintrest

Pintrest

At least three zebras escaped from a ranch in Vilvoorde, and were spotted running through the streets of Brussels in Belgium.

A student named Ludovic Bytebier caught them running through the streets on camera, straight up looking like those horses that escaped and trotted through the streets on the Nick at Nite sit-com Black Jesus. Several horses ran the streets of Compton for like six episodes of that show.

Harper College: Free Tuition is a Good Thing

HarperWhy hasn’t anyone thought of this before? Whatever the case, it’s definitely a case of better-late-than-never for Harper College in Palatine, IL. Hopefully, many other colleges will follow.

Harper College now offers the “Promise Scholarship.”

Students can attend the two-year college tuition free. Yep, no cost for tuition. There are a few stipulations, but nothing that’s too much to ask. This program is targeted toward students that may not have a “straight-A” grade point average, and may not be able to afford higher education.

Students have to maintain a “C” average and carry 15 hours per semester. They also have to work 40 hours community service.

This is expected to cost a million dollars a year. The Harper Board of Trustees put around five-mill to the side to pay for it. Educating someone who’s willing to work but can’t afford it is a good thing. I’m just saying.

Father Unknowingly Eats Daughter’s Weed Brownies

marijuana browniesA 17-year-old girl has admitted to baking marijuana in brownies. Her 58-year-old father unknowingly consumed several of the treats.

The effects cause the man to believe he was having a stroke. He required emergency medical attention.

Firefighters and deputies responded on a medical call to the home on the 7700 block of Phelan Drive in Independence Township. After police arrived, the man’s 17-year-old daughter admitted to having baked the pot brownies, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday(Freep)

Hopefully, this wasn’t a bad practical joke she played on her old man. The lab has already tested the evidence, and confirmed they were indeed ‘weed brownies’. The young lady is facing big-time charges. It could be worse if she intentionally left the brownies out to be eaten by someone who knew no better.

Too bad the man didn’t realize he was supposed to enjoy that feeling. You can’t be greedy the first time you eat a weed brownie (so I’ve heard). Be sure to eat some regular food first. Then, start with slowly eating a half of brownie. Next, wait two hours to see the effect before eating any more.

The father should try it again, but under different circumstances.
