Movie Review: The Perfect Guy
Throw a handful of pretty people on the screen with a bunch of scary music, and you have the new suspense feature titled The Perfect Guy.
Sanna Lathon, Michael Ealy, and Morris Chestnut headline the film that is intended to have you thrilled to the edge of your seat. The cast can act, and they are the movie’s strongest asset.
In this type of movie, everyone knows exactly what’s gonna happen before anyone purchases a ticket. Girl is with boy, but is unhappy with him. Girl and boy split up. New guy comes into the picture and dates girl. Girl and new guy don’t work out. New guy and girl split, girl and boy get back together, and the new guy ends up being psycho. You know, that old story.
Even though we know the story, many will still cough up the admission charge to see their favorite actors and actresses. We do it all the time. And seeing that Sanaa Lathon is in my top five, I was front and center in front of the big screen.
The good news is that the characters are well developed. Thankfully, the female victim does not make you want to choke her. Also, the script does a good job of covering itself. I spent minimum time questioning the motivation of the characters. There was a nice build up of suspense throughout the story.
The not so good news is that the payoff was short. I desired a longer, more drawn out, action packed final struggle. That part left me hanging, however the movie was not intended to be an R rated action film . . . so don’t expect that.
Instead, anticipate popular actors doing a good job acting in a movie that’s perfect for a date. Personally, I would not have been mad if there was some sort of huge plot twist that came out of nowhere. Maybe an explosion or a car chase. However, it never happened.
This movie’s plot was intended to be simple, so I’m not mad at all. Charles Dutton’s brief character was very refreshing. If you like any of the actors in this movie, then go see it. If you have a hot date and want a movie that will spark conversation afterwards, then go check it out. It thrives on the presence of the actors. Otherwise, you can wait to catch this one on the Lifetime network in the future.

VIDEO: Cold Turkey Remix Geechi Mouf Ft. Fash Cash & Blocc
Geechi Mouf, Fash Cash, and Blocc dropped a gem when they released this remix. Those that review music regularly rarely listen to more than a few seconds of a song the first time they screen it. Myself included.
But for me with this one, I enjoyed it all the way through on the first listen. In fact, I rewound it for a second listen and sung along with the hook.
The radio version of this jam is in rotation on U-Hype Live which streams on this website every night at 9:00 pm Central. It also is featured on the podcast U-Hype LXXXV.
VIDEO: J-Rich – Been Thru It All
I felt this song the very first time I heard it.
J. Rich submits the video “Been Thru It All.” It’s the first single from the “Pain” project.
The beat is on point. It sounds like B-Boy music with a smooth tempo. The rhyme scheme on this particular track is perfect.
This is generally the way I like Hip-Hop to sound. If J. Rich keeps this up, we should be hearing from him more often in the future. Check it out!

VIDEO: L.B. BOI – Get Rich Die Wealthy @ImLB_uJustRap @bylashe Dir. By @Lashe_2Tone
L.B. Boi is talkin’ ’bout what many people would like.
“Get Rich Die Wealthy” is a video directed by Lash 2Tone.
Lyle LBboi Jr. got the auto-tune going throughout. Lots of close ups in this video are coupled with very quick editing.
They are out in what appears to be a graveyard on a dreary, overcast day. This appropriately sets the mood. Check it out!
VIDEO: MIKE SPITZ – UP ON THE STAGE
Quality stuff from Mike Spitz called “Up on the Stage.” It’s more like Hip-Hop over Rock-N-Roll.
This is a great example of how Hip-Hop has expanded and influenced many since its inception.
This video has excellent camera work and editing. Within the first 25 seconds, there is a rack focus here and a rack focus there. Not mad at all. Good music and good film/video work are universal.
Get up with Mike Spitz at MikeSpitz.com.
