My First Audiobook REACTION
I’ve finally done it. I’ve read my first audiobook. While me and Michaela’s joint review of said book has not yet been released, that is immaterial currently. What this is about is the process of listening to audiobooks, why I hadn’t up to this point, and how I felt about this first one. It also includes a request for recommendations for audiobooks from you guys, so PLEASE chime in!

Betwixt the Books Nostalgia Junkie: “The Subtle Knife” by Philip Pullman
IT’S FINALLY HERE! I have to say, our opening video of this series–with The Golden Compass–was one of my favorite episodes to date. We’re back at it again with The Subtle Knife, and Casey and I are EVEN ANGRIER than the last time. Tune in to watch us battle Taylor for who has the right opinion over whether this series is boring or not. (It is.)

Betwixt the Books Reviews: Nimona by Noelle Stevenson
LOOK AT HOW CRAZY THIS IS: Michaela and I are actually TOGETHER for this review, talking about the graphic novel Nimona. This has been in the works for a while, and it’s the cutest thing ever worth waiting for. We tried out recording ourselves via skype for this one, mostly because Michaela forgot her camera, and it had some hilarious results. Perfect for this book in cuteness level, really!

5 Love Triangles that Don’t Suck
Technically this was my Monday video, but I was really busy so I’m posting this late here. Please love me. Anyways, in honor of the release of Kresley Cole’s newest book, Arcana Rising, I wanted to talk about love triangles in YA that I actually didn’t hate. As you know, this is a very hard thing for me to admit, but it turns out that such love triangles DO exist in the world!

Review: Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers
So this is a day late, but totally worth it. I actually use the words “kerfuffle” and “bonkers” to try to describe just what happened in the second half of this book. All I can say is that I really, really wish that I’d gotten it in time for my thesis, because I would have had a LOT to use from this text! (Okay, it’s not BAD. It’s just … confusing.)

Betwixt the Books Discuss! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
This happened a few days ago, but it DID happen! We got around Google Hangout and streaming issues to figure out how to stream from Skype. And then the audio wasn’t the best, but I swear the video IS interesting! It was quite a fun discussion, where we talk about fandom and fanfiction and why this book was set up to be disappointing. It was a nice bookend to our first discussion, about why Hermione may or may not be racebent in the books!

Bibliomancy for Beginners Season 4: Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
This is hilariously late, but we actually are getting it done because we just said LET’S DO IT WHO’S READY TO GO and in the space of a half hour we got online. We’re really sorry about how delayed this summer has been, but we promise that it’s just because our lives are falling apart and not because of anything else. Anyways, this promises to be hilarious because we’ve half forgotten the book and I think the book is bad and Michaela and Taylor think it’s good!
The upcoming set of three books are books by authors we’ve already read or series that we’re continuing. If you remember a long time ago, we did an episode on Eugenides’ first book, The Virgin Suicides. Now we’re back for his second book!
Don’t miss our first three episodes of this season:
The Bone Gap by Laura Ruby * Invisible Fault Lines by Kristen-Paige Madonia * A Fierce and Sutble Poison by Samantha Mabry

MASSIVE End of the Year TBR
Do you guys remember that PopSugar Reading Challenge TBR I did at the beginning of the year? Well, it really wasn’t cutting it. I haven’t been reading nearly enough of my challenge picks, and it’s time to change all that. I’ve updated my TBR and gotten serious about this thing! Here we go!

Review: The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkowski
I read this book for booktubeathon, as you probably already know. I genuinely thought I was going to dislike it. As it turns out, I really, really didn’t. I actually quite liked it. So much so that I’ve already bought (and am reading) the second book, so you can look forward to that review soon too! In the meantime though, here’s this first review!

From the Notebook: July 2016 Wrap Up
GUYS. I read NINE books in July! What a spectacular feat. Four of them were even for my Popsugar Challenge. Not to mention the fact that I even LIKED most of them. I also did really well for reviewing the books I was reading, even if my Winner’s Curse review won’t be out until Friday and I haven’t filmed my Assassin’s Heart review yet. Both are coming, I promise! Other than that, here we go!
