World AIDS Day
Today is World AIDS Day. I work with international health and development projects, so I hear a lot about HIV/AIDS in the developing world. It remains a huge health challenge for many people, women and children in particular. Much more needs to be done in terms of education and prevention, not to mention providing care and support for those who have been affected. AIDS also continues to be a problem here in the United States. Despite the strides we've made, I'd venture to say there is still a...

Happy Thanksgiving
This has been a big year. I've finally achieved my dream of becoming a published author. Hubby, who is a chef, started a new job at a new restaurant and even though it's been a lot of work, it's been worthwhile. Life has been more stressful than ever, juggling a demanding job of my own, a three-year-old, and my writing career. Yes, it's now officially a career, and my hope is that one day it may even pay some bills.
I'm exceedingly thankful to all the people who have supported me along the...

Author interview – Nancy M. Griffis
I'm happy to share another author interview. Nancy M. Griffis has published two novels, Eternal Investigations, published in 2010, and Mind Games, published in 2006. Nancy and I go way back, and she was the first friend I met who also wrote (um, I think that was fifth, maybe sixth grade). So it's so exciting that we are now both published authors. Nancy is also a screenwriter and working on that aspect of her career. And she is a prolific writer. If you like paranormal, you'll want to check o...

To our veterans – thank you
A special thank you to all the men and women who have served our country and continue to serve! I may not always agree with our government's policies, but I fully support those who are putting their lives on the line and who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we have the choice to disagree and voice our opinions.
Thank you and may you all come home safely and soon!

Why I'm not doing NaNoWriMo
A lot of people have been talking about the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and I know a few people who are participating. A good friend said we should do it together, which I thought about for all of five seconds. My main reason for not doing it is that I write at a glacial pace. Or maybe I should clarify that because I actually do write in short bursts, often in the wee hours of the morning, but there's a big lag time between them. (I know, I know, I should be writing every day....

Guest post – Changing of the seasons
Fall is one of my favorite times of year. Please welcome Jordan K. Rose and her views on the changing seasons!
Fall in Massachusetts, photo taken by Cindy's mom
I live in New England where we experience each one of the four seasons. Rainy spring weather rolls into glorious sunny summer. Autumn slides in with the last of the beautiful beach weather fading into October's changing red, gold and brown leaves. Then winter hits. It literally slaps its way in. Temperatures drop. Snow falls. Doors and ...
