Twists and turns of the writing process

Well, here we are in deepest winter and this snow lover is disappointed yet again in the lack of Maryland snowfall. There’s still hope, though. Sometimes February can be our lucky month. The good news is that after a Nov/Dec writing slump/holiday frenzy, I am back to writing and once again excited about working on Thief of Destiny. I’ve had ideas for future scenes flitting through my head, which is exciting and energizing. I hope this will give me the boost to finally finish the book because...

Happy 2013 and a new writer’s wish list

Hope you all had happy holidays and wishing you joy and peace and success for 2013. I’m emerging from the whirlwind of December and trying to get things back on track and do some planning for the upcoming year. The nice thing about January is the blank slate. Anything is possible. I hope there will be big things to come this year.

I did a writer’s wish list post last year and I thought I’d do another for this year. I’m feeling a bit more introspective this time around. Stuff doesn’t seem as im...

A guest post about keeping our students safe

The shooting at the elementary school in Newtown is still much on my mind this week. Today I have a special guest blogger, Kate Lutter, who is a fellow CMP author and was previously an elementary school principal. Kate has offered to share her reaction as a former principal and her insights. The important thing is to use this tragedy as an opportunity to start a dialogue about how we can make a change for the better. I’m not sure anyone has the answers yet, but we need to start talking. Feel...

Happy release day to Journey to Hope!

Journey to Hope, my short story prequel to Thief of Hope, is finally here! It’s only $.99, less than a cup of coffee! I think you’ll enjoy this little story about Edgar and his past.

Journey to Hope As the third son of a lesser nobleman, Edgar Gray’s prospects are limited at best. He longs to find some meaning in a life of privilege. A chance encounter with Rose, a peasant girl, gives him a chance to help those in need. But the Guild has spread to Tipton Village, and unrest is brewing among the villagers. Edg...

This must stop

candleLike many people, I was horrified to hear about the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School yesterday. This is a town not unlike the small town where I grew up in Massachusetts. My heart is breaking for the parents, teachers, and community who have lost loved ones. My daughter is four and a half and will be starting kindergarten next fall, and I can’t help picturing her and her preschool classmates. I can’t even imagine what those parents must be going through. They should be celebrating...
