Raquel is the author of suspense thrillers Purple Knot, Ruby Dawn, and Bayou Blue which garnered critical acclaim and were sold into foreign translation.

Her darkly thrilling Gothic mysteries, Whispers on Shadow Bay and Secrets at Crescent Point were praised by critics as, "a perfect blend of suspense, intrigue, and creepiness that will draw you into a dark world...keeping you frozen until the final conclusion..."

Known for pulse-pounding fiction with a breathtaking pace, she continues to bring riveting characters and epic worlds to life in her SciFi/Alternate History series, The Blackburn Chronicles, hailed as "a dark, intense, suspense-filled series that captivates."

It was so fun to research flying suits and watch GoPro videos of it. Every muscle twitch, every banking maneuver was so amazing. So writing it felt like I was able to really see it from a character's point of view.(less)

Partly because it reminds me of home, but also because it is pretty cheerful for the most part. I would take astronaut food...nutritionally sound, keeps for a long time, requires very little prep.(less)

Capturing California

I have lived in southern California for most of my life. As the daughter of a marine, we moved a lot but we always ended up back at Camp Pendleton. I went to school here, married here, had kids here, and created a home here. And now, as I begin this new thriller series, I get to write about the state I love so much.

My first book takes place near the famous art town of Idyllwild in the San Jacinto
