Six Sentence Sunday – 11/6/11

Hi Sixers!

Another Sunday is upon us!  How time flies…

This is from an untitled WIP, which will be the sequel to The Light Within Me.

My main man Rayner is gettin' busy with my heroine, Faith, for the first time :)

He thought of all the good things on Earth that he enjoyed. Tequila. Bacon. Chocolate ice cream with sprinkles.  His huge body and its powerful strength. T.V.

He would trade every single one of them if he could stay exactly where he was: inside Faith.

I now return you to the other wonderful authors of Six Sentence Sunday

And authors, if you would like to participate in some self-promotion in the Holiday Blog Hop I am organizing, please go here for more information!

Looking for some self-promotion? Join the blog hop!

I am putting together a Holiday Blog Hop for our readers.   For those who are unfamiliar with a blog hop, here is the basic premise:

I will set up a page here on my blog that will have your website name (or author name) and link.  Think of it as the central phone book for the blog hop.

Each author will notify their list of followers, fans, etc., of the blog hop and how to get started in it, which would either be through the author website or through the "phone book" page here, whichever you choose.

When a reader clicks on your link, it will take them to a page on your website where you are giving away a book (s), gift cards – whatever you want.  You can promote a new book, or give away a book that's been out for a while.  It doesn't matter.

To enter to win, the reader leaves a comment on that page.  Then the reader will be directed back here (to the "phone book")  so that they can continue on to the next author.

At the end of the Blog Hop, each author will pick the winner from those readers who have left comments, and then notify them and award the prize.

This is a great way to connect with and grow your list of readers/potential readers.

The dates:  Begins December 9 at 8 am Pacific time, and ends December 11 at midnight.

To participate, please send me an email at CarlyFall@gmail.com.  I will have a banner designed in the next week or so  for you to display on your website.

An Interview with Noah from The Light Within Me

Noah offered to buy me dinner at Saul's Steak House  in Sparks, Nevada.  I imagined him charming me the way he did Abby, but it became apparent that wasn't going to happen.  He was strictly business.

Carly:  Thank you for meeting me, Noah.  And you were right – this is fabulous steak.

Noah:  Sure.  And damn straight.  Best place on the western side of the U.S.  Believe me, I've been just about everywhere, and I know.

Carly:  I'm sure you do. You can visit a lot of steak houses in two hundred and eleven years!

Silence.

Okay, so he didn't find me funny.  Back to business.

Carly:  So how are things going with the other warriors and Abby?

A slow smile crossed his face as he mulled over the question while enjoying the garlic mashed potatoes.

Noah:  She fits in really well.  She's strong.  She doesn't take any shit.  And any  problem she has with anyone usually gets rectified over a game of pool.  Where she wins.

It was obvious to me that Noah held nothing but pride and love for Abby.

Carly:  How's her writing going?

Noah:  Great!  She hasn't published anything, but she will.  She likes writing fiction.

Carly:  How's the hunt for the Colonists going?

Noah's face became dark, and he shook his head.

Noah:  I got off the phone today with Rayner.  He's down in Phoenix with Hudson and Cohen hunting one of those bastards.  I don't know about that mission, to be honest.  Seems things are a little fu…screwed up.  Rayner…he's either losing it or…I don't know.

Carly:  Wow.  I hope they're okay.

Noah nodded solemnly.  I do too, Carly.  Rayner's head isn't in the game.  I worry about all of them.

Noah poured the rest of the bottle of wine in our glasses, and there was silence as we finished our dinners.

Carly:  So any kids in the  future, Noah?

He looked at me with surprise.  But then a small smile played on his lips.

Noah:  Guess we will have to see about that, he said.  I'm definitely up for it though.

Saul came by and cleared the empty dishes.

Noah:  I need to get back to the silo.

I have to admit, I was disappointed.  Noah is strong, good natured, quick with a smile and terribly nice on the eyes.  I wanted to spend more time with him, but I knew that his mind was on other things…and other people.

Carly:  Okay.  Thanks for meeting me.

Noah got up from the table, and I did as well.  He threw a couple of hundred dollar bills on our table and began to walk out.  Saul yelled out, "Noah!  You know your money isn't good here!"

Without missing a step, Noah flipped him the one finger salute and kept walking for the door.

I looked over my shoulder to see Saul and a couple other patrons laughing.

When we were outside, I noticed that it was almost dark.

Noah:  Goodnight, Carly.

He put on his sunglasses just as his eyes started to glow a warm, bright orange.  I watched him walk away, hoping that I would eventually be able to interview the rest of the warriors at some point in the future.

Six Sentence Sunday – 10/30/11

Happy Halloween, Sixers!

This week I am sticking to the Light Within Me since the release is November 1st.  I thought I would give you a quick introduction to my villain for this book, the evil that Noah was sent to eradicate, James:

Usually he picked his victims at random.  He would just be walking down the street, see a face, and the urge to kill exploded in him.  He would then begin watching that person and learning their lives, as well as the lives of their neighbors.  For instance, he knew that this kill should take place in the middle of the day around lunchtime.   None of her fellow apartment dwellers in the building were home during that time, but she usually came home for lunch.  It would be a wonderful afternoon with her.

Inspired by music – Rohan coming to life!

I'm not a big music person.  I don't have a favorite artist or band.  I don't stick to one genre.  I pretty much like everything except country music, and even every now and then I hear a country song that I like a little bit.

The other day while driving, I was listening to the radio, thinking about one of my characters in an upcoming book in my Dark Forces series.  The character is Rohan, one of the brothers to Thaddeus (Shackled to the Night)  and Aiden (Hidden in the Night).  I have had a general idea about Rohan, but when I heard this song, I had my vampire pegged.

The song is Possum Kingdom by The Toadies.  If I were a tech savvy gal I would just post the song, but alas, I'm not.  So here are the lyrics.  If you want to listen to the song, you can find it on iTunes.

Rohan is going to be very dark, and I can't wait to start writing him. :)

"Possum Kingdom"

Make up your mind

Decide to walk with me

Around the lake tonight

Around the lake tonight

By my side

By my side

I'm not gonna lie

I'll not be a gentleman

Behind the boathouse

I'll show you my dark secret

I'm not gonna lie

I want you for mine

My blushing bride

My lover, be my lover, yeah…

Don't be afraid

I didn't mean to scare you

So help me, Jesus

I can promise you

You'll stay as beautiful

With dark hair

And soft skin…forever

Forever

Make up your mind

Make up your mind

And I'll promise you

I will treat you well

My sweet angel

So help me, Jesus

(hey, hey, hey)

Give it up to me

Give it up to me

Do you wanna be

My angel?

So help me!

Be my angel

Be my angel

Do you wanna die?

I promise you

I will treat you well

My sweet angel

So help me, Jesus

Jesus

Jesus

Jesus…

Six Sentence Sunday 9/16/11

Hi Sixers!

Last week, after breaking up with Abby, Noah met her at a high brow function.  There he realized that he had been a stupid jackass, and …shall we say… practically accosted her in the hallway of the hotel.  He told her that he wants to start over in their relationship, and is desperate to do so.  She has asked him to back off a bit…

He backed up, but kept a hand planted on the wall on each side of her. He looked down at her as she spoke, hanging on every word, waiting for the yes he so desperately needed to hear.

"Noah, you…you hurt me," Abby said as she looked down at her hands. She couldn't have done more damage to him if she had taken out a knife and stabbed him forty-two times. He felt the pain of her statement lance through his body, ripping at his soul. When she looked back up at him, her eyes were shimmering with tears.

And now back to the greatness of Six Sentence Sunday
