Hump Day Kick Start – Cocked and Loaded Bubble Bath Edition

Song of the day: Contagious by Trapt

Hump Day Kick Start – for your muse, a writing picture prompt, or just a visual treat.

bam

Cocked, loaded and squeaky clean! Seriously, there is no need for me to start this prompt off.  I mean, there could be so many stories spun off this one picture—that is, if you quit trying to look through the bubbles.

Who is he? Undercover agent? Spy? SEAL? Billionaire who made his money in looking so damn good? Just where did that gun come from?

Who is he aiming the gun at? The woman who he has been seducing for sensitive information? Ex-partner in crime? Why is she a threat? Is this a stand-off with her pointing a .9mm at him? Or is her weapon something more…feminine?

Up for the challenge? Love to hear you take.

Hump Day Kick Start – Sexy Guy in a Wet Chair Edition

Song of the day: Would? by Alice in Chains

Hump Day Kick Start – for your muse, a writing picture prompt, or just a visual treat.

surf

This is an interesting picture. So much so, I had to use it for today’s prompt.

Guy. Loveseat. Water. Hmmm…. Who could our character be? Why is he lying on a battered chair? Not such a big deal, except the chair is in water. Is the water a stream or surf? Why is it there? Did his houseboat sink (the work of his angry ex) and this was the only piece of furniture he could save? Had he set up a romantic rendezvous with the love of his life, planning to propose, but she has yet to show? Who is he looking at? Maybe he is part of a crew for a movie about zombie mermaids, the cast is taking a break, and he is dreamily starting at the starlet he hopes to ask out. Does he have something in his hand? A knife? Gold? A trident?

Come on folks, use your imaginations. Love to hear your take!

Hump Day Kick Start – Skin Football Edition

Song of the day: Burn by Papa Roach

Hump Day Kick Start – for your muse, a writing picture prompt, or just a visual treat.

football2

I love American football. In honor of Superbowl Sunday this weekend, I give you today’s Hump Day Kick Start.

Ladies, drag your eyes away from those yummy cuts in his waist. Tell me, who is our player? Is he a first draft pick (would be mine) just throwing a few passes with some buddies at the local park? Is he a pro quarterback coming back to the hood to play with the hard knock kids? Is he throwing a game of flag football in hopes the pretty girl he has a crush on would nab his shirt. Maybe he’s planning a game-winning play to catch the eye the beautiful sports reporter in hopes of doing a little “tackling” with her later.

Thank the heavens he’s playing skins.

What’s your take? Love to hear from you.

Link of the Week – Indie Vs. Trad Publishing

smileyThere was quite an exchange last week On the blog A Newbie’s Guide to Publishing between  mystery, horror, thriller author Joe Konrath, who just so happens to be a huge advocate and pioneer for self-publishing, and Kensington CEO and President Steve Zacharius. It was an open, polite, matter-of-fact, Q&A about indie publishing versus trad publishing, including candid talk of sales numbers,  marketing, success or lack thereof in both markets, Amazon, pricing, cover art, and necromancers and muppets (you have to read it to know why), to name a few. Though they agreed to disagree on so many of the topics, Zacharius seemed to be genuinely curious as to the appeal of the rising tide in self-publishing and Konrath, in his usual wit, answered solidly.

No matter how you publish, this post is a great source of information. Just be prepared. The post was updated four times. Get your favorite beverage and curl up. It’s  a long read.

Hump Day Kick Start – Sexy, Shirtless Snowman Edition

Song of the Day: Timber by Ke$ha and Pitbull

Hump Day Kick Start – for your muse, a writing picture prompt, or just a visual treat.

brrr

It’s no secret. I hate the cold. It seeps into my bones and no matter how I bundle, drink rum, and/or snuggle with a warm body, I’m cold. Like a reptile, I don’t move much when it’s below, oh, say, 72 degrees. Sadly, it’s still winter. And so, why not heat things up with a something hot? And I have just the thing. This week’s writing prompt.

Who is our guy? Mountain Man? Ski instructor? CIA operative in training? Coors Light beer ad actor? Why is he missing his shirt? Did he have a fight with his girlfriend who kicked him out of the lodge? Maybe it’s a survival test from his tribe – the sexy, tattooed, rugged man tribe? Could he have given it to the pretty lost woman wearing no coat who stumbled upon his land? Did a bear steal it from him?

Love to hear your take!

Link of the Week – Gumroad

I admit, I find this week’s link intriguing. But I have no experience with the site.

Gumroad is “for independent writers, designers, game developers, musicians, artists, filmmakers, and anyone in-between.” It is a web service, a site for selling directly to your audience, a social toolkit, and is user friendly for both the vendor and the consumer. It’s a one-size fits all, including users Bon Jovi and Coldplay.
