Does the persistent anxiety that you should be writing more ever go away?

The glib answer would be to say, “Ask me in a few more years.”

But, more truthfully, while I understand exactly what you’re talking about, I don’t experience that feeling as anxiety so much as I feel a sense of incompleteness in any day where I don’t accomplish something. I wanted to start reading some of Haruki Murakami's books but after reading much more about him, I realized he has more than a couple of well-known books. Would you mind recommending where I should start?

Truth be told, it’s a few years since I last cracked Murakami. I need to be in a particular headspace for his books; unhurried, open to digression. The last one I read wasAfter Dark, which I thought was lovely, very readable, subtly moving in the way that most of his book are. But not terribly characteristic of his work, I think.
