Jenny Lundquist grew up in Huntington Beach, California, wearing glasses and wishing they had magic powers. They didn't, but they did help her earn a degree in intercultural studies at Biola University. Jenny has painted an orphanage in Mexico, taught English at a university in Russia, and hopes one day to write a book at a café in Paris. Jenny and her husband live in northern California with their two sons and Rambo, the world's whiniest cat. ...more

The ending of The Opal Crown was the series ending that I had always envisioned. But, you know what they say, never say never! Thanks again for contacting me.(less)

I am so sorry for not seeing this sooner! I sincerely apologize if you already had to turn in your project without my responses. Seeing Cinderella isn't a true story; but the inspiration for the book came from something really embarrassing that happened to me in seventh grade. A boy I liked licked his fingers and then ran them down the lenses of my glasses. I was really shy in middle school so this mortified me. Years later when I was an adult, I made light of it while I was telling the story and said something like, "My glasses had magic powers. They repelled boys." Then the writer in me thought: "But what if my glasses DID have magic powers?" Wondering this eventually led me to develop the book that became Seeing Cinderella.

Happy Holidays!

The Charming Life of Izzy Malone by Jenny Lundquist
" "Normal?" Aunt Mildred looked like Grandma Bertie had just said a cuss word. "What an utterly terrible word - it sucks all the spark and creativity right out of a person. I've simply got no tolerance for people like that."

This book is such a gem!" Read more of this review »

“As for learning to wear high heels, no need to worry. I've got no tolerance for those dreadful things. If God wanted us girls tottering around like a bunch of drunken sailors, we'd have been born wearing stilts!”
Jenny Lundquist, The Charming Life of Izzy Malone

“I have certainly heard of the Subtle Art of Shutting Up, but I can't say I've practiced it all that much. I greatly prefer the underappreciated genius of Speaking My Mind. I figure if someone doesn't like what I have to say, they shouldn't put their ears in close proximity to my mouth.”
Jenny Lundquist, The Charming Life of Izzy Malone

“Given her humble origins, few could have imagined the heights she would one day ascend.”
Jenny Lundquist, The Princess in the Opal Mask
