Upstate NY
We are visiting Dennis' family in Upstate New York. Yesterday we went kayaking in the Adirondack's. The "mountains of New York" and funny to us coming from Utah, they look like hills, beautiful however. We go through these small towns and most of my thoughts spin around all the stories I can write them into. I make notes wanting to remember all the senses and sights. Nice to spend time with family. Off to Alex Bay today.

Cocky
Brad rubbed Jillian the wrong way, a pilot, cocky, and full of himself. Jillian didn’t think there was much to be cocky about, he was short, no neck, and not very attractive. He was losing his hair and fighting it badly. It made her smile.--Lisa Loomis (Gem Rats)

Fine
When he got ready to leave he reached out and pulled me to him, hugging me tightly. I buried my face in his neck. As I stood there with Ryan holding me, I felt lonelier than I could ever remember feeling. I was going home.“Have a safe trip back,” he whispered, his lips touching my hair next to my ear. “You’ll be fine.”--Lisa Loomis (Casanova Cowboy)

Brunt of it
Rachel could hear the frustration and anger in Toni’s voice. Toni didn’t break down and cry like most women, she got mad. When she got mad, you didn’t want to be the brunt of it.--Lisa Loomis (Gem Rats)

Misread it
In a way I thought he always loved me, but I was the one not open to more. I thought when I told him my feelings he would be happy, happy I finally figured it out, finally loved the good guy. I’d certainly misread it.--Lisa Loomis (Casanova Cowboy)

I liked it
We walked in silence, listening to the ocean, me bending down to pick up rocks and sea glass as I spotted them. He got ahead of me several times as I dallied and I would hurry to catch up to him. I could see his blonde hair blowing in the breeze, he had grown it back out. Not like the band long, just to his shoulders. I liked it--Lisa Loomis (Boy in a Band)

End of season insanity
“Ryan, about last night,” I started.“Morgan. It’s okay. I don’t expect anything, I know your situation. It just happened. Neither of us planned on it. End of the season insanity, we’ll call it,” he said, and put another bite in his mouth.--Lisa Loomis (Casanova Cowboy)

"Luke was a great guy. I felt like he was about the only man I knew that wouldn’t take advantage of me. We were team Irish at work, Luke Grady and Morgan Mallory, and the whole crew enjoyed our silliness."--Lisa Loomis (Casanova Cowboy)

A Morgan Mallory Story
I woke up with a headache. Champagne usually did that to me. Mathew was spooned around my back his arm over me, his hand resting against my chest. As strong and level headed as I thought I was I’d come to understand Mathew could turn that upside down and backwards.--Lisa Loomis (Boy in a Band)

Mindless
The breeze was light, the scent of the ocean floating on it. I sat down on a bench and watched a fisherman down in the rocks. Boats sailed or motored out of the harbor. I wanted to be in Luke’s sail naked and free, mindless.--Lisa Loomis (Casanova Cowboy)
