A Horse Named Joe--coming up

I finished my fourth novel yesterday.  Now as I've come to learn, is the hard part.  I will spend the next weeks reading it again and then re reading, editing, editing, editing.  I have a ways to go before trying to get it out there, but I'm excited about the book.

This is a picture of the real Joe--in some future form, to be the cover.  The book is not about a horse though per say, he's in it, but the story isn't his.  It's Roni's story, an Investment Banker from Wall Street.  More to come.............................

Finn and Geo snag

I have run into a snag with getting Finn and Geo out.  A whole new learning curve with a picture book.  With the publisher there just seems to be email support, not a live person, so it takes longer when you have to go back and forth.  I hope Brandie and I can get things resolved this week.

First Day

Today is the first day of college for both my kids.  It is so sad that summer is already over.  Coming up to the cabin today I was reminded that fall is just around the corner--some of the lower trees are already starting to change color.  Fall will zip by and before I know it snow will be flying again.

Home Alone

It feels sort of strange to have both the kids gone.  They were never home much anyway but I guess it feels different now that they have their own places to go to every night.  I'm sure I will find more reasons to go to Salt Lake than I used to, maybe stop by and say hello, bring some groceries, whatever.  School starts for them on Monday and they will get into a routine and be busy.  At the same time I miss them I am excited for them and this time in their life.

Liar

“Liar, the cowboy boots gave you away.  To think if I hadn’t stayed here last night, I might not have put it together.  Bad luck for you, me figuring it out.  Sadie?” I said pondering.  “She’s what, twenty something years older than you?--Lisa Loomis (Casanova Cowboy--a novel)

A.M.!  That has recently become my waking time.  I hate it.  I look at the clock and toss and turn, wish I wasn't awake, and then I start to write in my head.  I've already come up with two new book ideas--I mean that part is good, but I need to be writing faster or something.  This morning gave in at 4:15--off to write.

Doing crazy

“Morgan, don’t do anything crazy,” he whispered.            I looked at him and the anger rose up in my chest.  It rose higher and higher and then welled over and made me feel mean.  I bit my tongue a little.  A small frustrated laugh escaped my lips.            “Ha.  Crazy?” I said locking eyes with him.             He stared back at me, saying nothing.            “What’s crazy is the way you act.  Now that’s crazy,” I said through a clinched jaw.

Twist

Coming home yesterday I was able to write on A Horse Named Joe.  I got to write for several hours straight which I just love.  What's even better is when the story takes a twist I didn't see coming but which makes the second to last chapter tie up some ends I was concerned about.  I am so excited to finish the book today or tomorrow, and then revision starts------

Emotional Yoyo

He’d chosen my favorite song.            “Wild, wild, horses, couldn’t drag me away from you,” he sang.            My heart didn’t feel desperate for him tonight like it could.  I was such an emotional yoyo when it came to him.  When he finished he looked up at me.  I felt calm.--Lisa Loomis (Boy in a Band--a novel)
