To myself

I was disappointed.   I liked him to myself.  I remembered when we were kids I felt that way too.  A few friends turned into a party.  Mathew flirted openly with several of the girls that night.  I watched him work the scene.  It took me back in time to other parties we had been to, parties that hadn’t turned out so well.--Lisa Loomis (Boy in a Band--a novel)

Player

“What do you mean player?” Stella asked innocently.           “Player Stella, i.e. you’re not the only one.  He no doubt has numerous girls he flirts with, texts, sexts, whatever with.  It’s written all over him.  A guy with a live in girlfriend that is completely monogamous doesn’t flirt like that.  He wants women, all women, it’s a game, he can’t help himself,” Linda said.--Lisa Loomis (Gem Rats-a novel)

Even the weather.....

We were sitting in the hot tub.  The wind was blowing and making the Aspen trees sway into each other, their limbs still bare of leaves.  The air was no longer the biting cold it could be.  Much of the snow around the house had melted leaving patches here and there of dirty crusty snow swimming in a sea of mud.  A thick cloud cover made the sky dark.  Even the weather seemed to be depressed.--Lisa Loomis (Casanova Cowboy--a novel)

Halfway house

It smelled like a school cafeteria.  The room was filled with Formica topped tables with drop down bench seats.  I noticed a couple sitting at one of the tables talking quietly holding hands.  Mathew came through double doors from the other side.  His hair was short.  He had on jeans and a button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up.  He smiled as he came towards me.--Lisa Loomis (Boy in a Band--a novel)

9/11

I don't think there are very many of us that don't remember exactly what we were doing that day, and when we heard about 9/11.  It is still so hard to fathom that it happened at all.  So many lives altered forever.  The reminder that life is very fragile is always hard.  I feel fortunate I am still around to hug the people I love.........

Finn and Geo's Winter Adventure

The draft copy arrived today.  A few tweaks next week and it will be going live.  Still proof reading novel 4, slower than before, far too critical.

Adversity

I just read in our local paper that a friend of ours daughter passed away, she was 21.  She had been diagnosed very young with a disease that could not be cured, and they certainly did not give her as long to live as she did.  She was in a wheelchair almost half of her young life.  It reminds me how we all take things for granted, even our health.  It reminds me how we all have so many opportunities to do things in life, even if it is just running in a field, or taking a quiet walk in the woods.  It reminds me that when I get discouraged..........................at least I still have the chance to try.
