See ya met Joe
Contemporary woman's fiction
Roni rounded a curve just outside of town and there a
horse stood in the middle of the road. She slowed the golf cart to a stop, and
the horse simply stared at her, not moving.
“Shoo,” she said, waving her hands.
The horse blinked its eyes and did nothing. Roni looked
around for a rider, but there was nothing but vegetation surrounding her; there
was no one to help. She tried to remember what horses liked—sugar, carrots, Honeycrisp
apples—none of which she had. Shit
she thought. She pondered trying to squeeze the cart behind the horse, but she
was afraid he might kick, damaging the cart or her or both. She waited, the
horse looking at her and she at the horse. Who
let their horse just wander about? she wondered. Had it escaped? Thrown its rider? What? She didn't see a saddle or bridle, nothing that gave her a
clue.
She got out of the cart and waved her arms in the
air.
“Come on, shoo, go on,” she coaxed.
The horse’s ears twitched, and he looked away from
her, not moving. She sat back down on the cart seat and waited. She wanted to
laugh. Here she was stuck in the road because of a horse, something that would
never happen in New York. It would have never been a horse that delayed her
getting someplace. She figured that surely the horse would get bored or hot or
both and wander back to where it came from at some point, freeing up the road. Just
then, it lifted its tail and pooped, big round plops of green poop forming a
pile in the road.
“Nice,” she chuckled, shaking her head. “Out of all
the open space around us, do it in the road.”
The horse’s ears moved again, signifying he could
hear her voice. She thought maybe now that he’d done his duty, he would move on.
The sound of a motor came from behind her, and she turned around to see a blue
motor scooter coming towards her carrying a rider with a shiny, silver helmet,
like a mirror. The Bahamanian man—dressed in a white T-shirt that made his skin
look that much blacker, khaki pants, and dark brown shoes—pulled up beside her cart
and stopped.
“I see ya met Joe,” he said in a thick Bahamian
accent backed up by a smile.

Wannabe
A Contemporary romance novel On Amazon
Ryan came back in his blue turtleneck and black long underwear. He
looked cute in his long johns and I couldn’t help but notice his package. His
hair was wet, but he must have run his fingers through it, as his curls didn’t
look flat. Again I noticed how the color of his shirt set off his tan face and
his eyes. He looked hot and I wondered why I’d never thought that before. I’d
thought handsome, but not hot.
“Sorry about the outfit. Not my normal out-to-dinner attire. This girl
I know wouldn’t let me go home first,” he apologized bowing with a smile.
I laughed just as I caught the sparkle in his eyes.
“You can forgo the wannabe-cowboy look tonight, you look fine.”

Short story
This weekend I didn't write, didn't edit a single word....this weekend I spent in Jackson Hole, WY with my family. On Saturday we watched a Quick Draw; a yearly event in Jackson where artists have 90 minutes to paint a picture or sculpt a bronze. It is pretty amazing what they can do in 90 minutes. Wondering if I should time myself on writing books........might be a very short story!

Dont-fuck-with-me
“No.
You're nervous because mommy’s not just down the hall?” he said, acting smart.
This Mathew was the one that always
threw me; I didn’t understand his attitude. I turned to face him dead-on, my
legs slightly apart and my feet firmly planted. I flipped back my hair with my
free hand.
“I’m not nervous to be with you,
shit head. What are you gonna do?” I said, challenging him.
He smiled and
then took a sip of beer. I was tense. I wanted to be with him. I wanted him to
touch me, kiss me, here was a chance. He watched me while I stared him down. I slowly
raised the can of beer to my lips and took a sip not breaking my lock on his
eyes. He took several swallows, still not breaking our gaze. My body was sort
of stiff, I could feel the tension, and I couldn’t decipher if it was the
don’t-fuck-with-me type or sexual. What
was he thinking? Then he broke it and set his beer down on the counter and
disappeared, returning with his guitar. He finished his beer and grabbed
another.
