Polynesian flare

Kiki’s had open windows that looked out onto the beach, a sort of Polynesian interior décor with a bamboo pattern on the front of the bar. Coconuts carved into faces sat between liquor bottles that lined the shelves behind the bar. They chose a table in front of one of the windows and ordered the specialty drink: Mai Tai’s. The drinks came with little umbrellas in them, and Heather picked hers out and put it above her ear in her hair. It made her look a little exotic.

Impo'tant

“He t'ink he so impo'tant. T'ink he work so hard. He not so good at work,” Devin said.            “Dumb ass,” Roni whispered.            It made Devin laugh timidly for the first time. Roni could tell he was guarded with his answers, trying to size up who she was, and what she wanted. They never moved from the shade of the covered walkway, and not another soul came onto the dock while she was there. Roni assumed his job could get pretty boring.            “What do you do all day if there are no people?" Roni asked. "Do you read?”            “Only one book,” Devin said.            “One book at a time?” she asked, confused.            Roni was an avid reader and many times she would start another book before she completely finished one. Even though his office setting was beautiful and serene she figured he had to do something to occupy his mind.
“No, only one book, da Bible.”

Something right

Yesterday another 5*****, it really tickles me when a reader connects. I don't expect every person to like my writing style, but when they do and get emotional about it I feel like I've done something right.

"BOY IN A BAND" $0.99 now on Amazon, Nook, and Smashwords

“That’s okay with me. I want you to teach me everything that makes you happy,” I said.           “You made me happy when you let me into your bed last night. You made me happy when you agreed to lose Ben.”             I rose up slightly and looked into his face.
“When you asked me if I loved him, I realized it wasn’t right, but I wasn’t sure why you cared. Your motives almost always confuse me. With Ben, I guess, I was in love with the idea of love. We only were together those few short months before I moved. I should have guessed once I was gone, he would be off to someone new.”

Erotic rock star romance---Amazon Kindle

I tried the main powder room off the hall, but the door was locked. I went down the hall towards Mathew’s room and the bathroom there. It wasn’t occupied, so I used it and checked my makeup—still okay. I adjusted my suit and opened the door.            “Oh,” I said, startled to find Mathew standing there.            He pushed me back inside and locked the door.            “What are you—” I started.
He didn’t let me finish. Instead, he pushed me up against the door and kissed me hard.

Delicious….

New Amazon review: "Ok, spring is in the air, but nonetheless the image that A Horse Named Joe evokes is delicious and makes you long for summer – warm beaches, turquoise seas and relaxation with your friends."

Clomping of hooves

The air felt cool against her skin as she drove the cart and she shivered slightly. She heard him before the cart lights reflected off his rear, the clomping of his hooves on the road. As she came up next to him he stopped, his ears perked forward and his tail swishing.     “You’re out late Joe, you should be home,” she said softly.     Joe swung his big head in her direction and raised his nose. His nostrils twitched and then he let out an exhalation loudly. Roni smiled.     “I love that you get to be so independent.”He leaned his head toward the cart and bumped his nose on the canopy. Startled he back off the road onto the grass.

Camping

“Are you cold?” he asked, quickly rubbing my back as if it would warm me.            I stiffened and moved away slightly; he got the message. It was hard not to remember his touch, to long for it, if only things could be different.            “A little, I have another sweatshirt I can put on, but I’ll wait until I feel colder,” I said.
Our conversation thus far had seemed a little strained, like we were stuck in transition, not really lovers, not really friends.

Can you?

"We had s‘mores a couple of nights: roasting marshmallows to perfection and gently squishing them in between graham crackers layered with Hershey’s chocolate."

Bonfire's on the beach, can you hear the waves crashing in the darkness? Smell the sweetness of the roasting marshmallows? Feel the innocence?

Melt any girl's heart

"Anna smiled as he walked away. She thought Ryan was cute and sincere, and there was something about his sincerity that made him even more attractive. He was young and small town and yet he didn’t have a small town mentality, and man, those blue eyes are enough to melt any girl’s heart."
