Although Suzy is a Yorkshire lass at heart, she left her home town of Rotherham, UK, to move to Portugal with her family when she was ten.
The Algarve continues to be her home, where she lives with her childhood sweetheart husband Michael and their menagerie of cats and dogs.
Suzy's career began soon after completing her A levels when she was offered the position of trainee journalist for a local English newspaper. Her love of writing developed and a few years later she moved on to become assistant editor for the region's largest English language publisher. Since then she has also worked as the editor of one of the Algarve's most loved monthly lifestyle magazines. Early in 2010 however, Suzy began working as a freelance writer and author. She

Hi Emily!
Yes I did :D
It was my first ever visit to Canada - we travelled across Alberta to British Columbia and one day we were sitting in the most beautiful spot on a beach littered with the most amazing driftwood (I've never seen anything like it!) and I just started to imagine vampires hiding in the huge trees behind me, unusual creatures swimming in the ocean and werewolves lurking everywhere and my mind basically went into overdrive. Oh and I do remember there being quite a lot of ravens around as well which must have influenced me at the time too! A few months later I started writing and before I knew it, I'd written my first YA book, Raven.
Canada is the most beautiful country I've ever visited and I know it will continue to inspire me for years to come :)
Thanks so much for taking the time to ask, Emily x(less)

Staying warm in the winter months is extremely important to me, especially as I get older. Apart from when I’m suffering with hot flushes (!), my feet are usually freezing cold – even here in the Algarve. So imagine my delight when I had the opportunity to try out some fabulous alpaca socks from Perilla. Perilla very kindly sent me two pairs to try out. A gorgeous pair of pink bed socks and a s...

What a great story! It's certainly unusual though. Normally when I read a book, I want to love the main character – I want them to succeed in life and be the best they can be. My Sweet Friend, however, is totally different from anything like that. Th ...more
