Hot Blooded by Kendall Grey COVER REVEAL!

If Robert Rodriquez (Sin City), Tony Soprano, and David Lynch (Twin Peaks) made sweet love to a Hawaiian version of The Bride (Uma Thurman’s character from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill), the resulting spawn might look like Kendall Grey’s upcoming mystery/suspense/supernatural thriller, HOT-BLOODED.
The first installment in the Ohana series, HOT-BLOODED is set on the island of Maui and is wrapped in the light and dark watercolors of Hawaiian culture, history, and mythology. It’s about guns, drugs, surfing, and tiki monsters. HOT-BLOODED tells the tale of a ballsy, half-Hawaiian angel-turned-demon, the duplicitous assassin who falls for her, and the blessings and curses of family—all wrapped up in freaky, supernatural gift paper.
Here’s the description:
WARNING: HOT-BLOODED does NOT end with a happily ever after. It contains drug use and graphic sex, language, and violence. The story is intended to entertain, not to condone or glorify illegal or immoral activities. This book is unsuitable for sensitive readers and those under the age of 18.
*Written in 3rd person. Contains a massive cliffhanger and multiple POVs.
Ohana is everything…
When an accident claims her mother’s life, Keahilani Alana must take charge of her ohana (family) or risk losing what little they have. With an underage brother to care for and no education, she has few options. The door to a heavenly hellish opportunity opens when she stumbles upon a valuable secret her mother left behind on the slopes of an extinct volcano—a legacy that tempts the family with riches beyond their wildest dreams. But the secret is much bigger and more sinister than they realize. As reality unravels and exposes eerie truths about the ohana that should have remained deep under the mountain, Keahilani must either resist the call of her blood or risk being consumed by its darkness.
Blake Murphy is an assassin working to infiltrate a new Hawaiian cartel. His investigation reveals that Keahilani, the sexy surfing instructor he pegged as an informant, is much closer to the drug ring than he thought. Passion ignites between them in the bedroom, but their ironclad ties to opposing interests pit them against each other everywhere else.
When tensions reach the breaking point and her ohana is threatened, the only cure for Keahilani’s hot-blooded fury is a loaded clip with a body bag chaser.
They don’t call her Pele for nothing.
Here’s the cover, designed by Renee Coffey:

So, are you up for a steamy, violent descent into tropical-island madness with a supernatural twist? If so, you can add HOT-BLOODED to your Goodreads TBR here. The release date hasn’t been announced yet, but Kendall is shooting for the end of June or early July. Stay tuned!
You can stalk Kendall on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Amazon, or her web site.

Teaser Tuesday (A Witteck's Call)

One of the reasons I am loving this book is because I get to introduce Danny in so much more detail in this series.  I fell in love with him in The Chosen One Trilogy and knew he'd be a bigger part of this series.  So, for today's Teaser Tuesday, here's a bit of Danny for you. :)

Danny awoke feeling disoriented.  No, that wasn’t the right word for it.  He knew where he was which was at home in his den by Sageden.  He ran a hand through his dark auburn hair and it came away wet with sweat.  His heart was beating so hard he thought it might break out of his chest.  What in the world had that dream been about?  He took a deep breath and went to the kitchen where he splashed cool water on his face.  He leaned against the counter and growled.  It wasn’t hard to see what the dream was about.  It was everything else in it that didn’t make sense. He looked out of the window and saw that the sun was starting to rise.  If he left now and took his time he would get to Jasper and Hayden’s clearing without having to worry about waking them.  If anyone knew anything about dreams, it was Hayden.Danny made his way back to the bedroom, pulled on pants and an extra thick tunic, strapped on his dagger and looked in the mirror.  His light green eyes were squinted with his frown.  Make sure you don’t frown when you get there.  Hayden will think something is wrong.  It’s just a dream.“I’ll be home in a bit, Gwynn.”  He cut up some cheese and placed it in a bowl for the little habir.  The small black catlike animal barely opened his red eyes to acknowledge Danny’s comment.“That’s the appreciation you get for saving a habir,” mumbled Danny as he made his way out the door.He took his time and walked leisurely in the direction of Jasper and Hayden’s clearing.  The air was crisp in the morning light.  A light fog covered the area and the trees and shrubs were covered in frost.  He smiled.  It was so peaceful.  His footsteps crunched in the snow, loud against the silence of the morning.A rabbit darted across his path.  Danny shifted and leapt after it, his small fox feet barely making any noise as he ran after his prey.  The rabbit darted one way then the other and came to a stop, cornered against the side of a tall bank of frozen earth.  It didn’t have time to cry out.  Danny stuck it in his bag and carried on with his walk.  Along the way he stopped to pick some mashams, a white mushroom that only grew in the snow.  Hayden could use them for breakfast along with the rabbit. He thought back to his dream, a bit surprised that he could remember it so clearly.  So much of it made sense.  Now that he considered it, only one part of it didn’t make sense.  He shook his head.  It was because of this one part that none of it made sense.  He sighed with relief as the clearing appeared ahead of him through the trees. He walked up to the cabin quietly, not sure if they were awake or not.  The fire was going inside, but with Hayden always being cold, it was never let to burn itself out at all in the winter.  He stood, undecided, and was about to shift so he could curl up and wait when the front door opened.  Jasper smiled at him.“Hayden wants to know why you’re just standing outside.  Come in, Danny.”Danny grinned.  “I wasn’t sure if you were awake yet.”Jasper laughed.  “Hayden hasn’t been able to eat anything for two days and today she wakes me up to tell me she could eat a horse.  I was about to start breakfast.  Will you be staying?”He nodded.  “Here, I got these on the way over.”  He handed the bag with the rabbit and the mashams to his friend.  “It still amazes me she can do that.”“What’s that?” asked Hayden as they entered the living room.“How you can tell people are here without them telling you.”She groaned.  “It’s this whole pregnancy thing.  I remember my cousin telling me that when she was pregnant all of her senses were hypersensitive.  I had no idea it would affect my magic as well.”  She smiled.  “What brings you here so early in the morning?”He looked to the front of the fireplace where Kip, their Australian Shepherd, stretched and groaned.  Tiny, the little white tairat, squeaked her annoyance as her bed moved.  He sat on the floor and petted both of them.“I was hoping you could help me answer a question.”“Alright.  What’s the question?”“Well, I had a dream last night.  It, well...”  He blushed.Jasper laughed and Hayden shushed him.“Oh, come now, Shlova.  It’s funny the first time anyone tries to explain a fated dream.  I never told anyone when I started dreaming of you for the simple fact that all I had to do was think about it and I would turn red.”  He leaned down, kissed her softly and stepped behind the counter to start breakfast.Hayden smiled and turned back to Danny.  “So you’re fated?”He nodded.  “That’s not the confusing part.  I mean, that part was obvious enough.”  He tried to block the images and feel of the dream so he wouldn’t blush again, but the caress of long black hair against his skin, of soft lips against his, pushed their way to the surface and the blood rose to his face.  “By the moons, it’s who’s in the dream that’s a bit of a mystery.”Hayden frowned.  “Well, you’re not supposed to know who you’re fated to.  That’s why most people go years without finding their mate.”He shook his head.  “No, no.  I mean I can’t tell what kind of being she is.”Hayden’s eyes widened and Jasper stopped cutting the mashams. The dream made its way up again and Danny had to stifle a groan.  He wasn’t a tall man by any means, being a fox had guaranteed him that, but if she made his five and a half feet look tall then she had to be quite short.  The feel of her petite body under his hands almost overwhelmed him and he got up to get a glass of water.  He took a long swallow.“At first it seemed as clear cut as could be.  Long black hair, clear blue eyes... small.”  He shook his head to clear the images forming there.  “By the moons, do you have anything stronger than water?”Jasper smiled, nodded, and poured him a shot of jeckden.  He waited until he was done the drink before pouring them both a mug of sloan and Hayden a glass of juice.“So she’s either human, Maj, or Namael.”  Hayden took her juice and took a cautious sip of it.Danny took a long drink of his sloan.  “That’s what I thought.”  He closed his eyes and felt the blood moving up his neck.  “Then I run my hand through her hair, see?  Then it stops making sense.  It’s her ears.  They’re pointy.”“A Wedelve?”  Jasper shrugged.  “You’d be the first shifter and Weldelve fated couple that we know of, but with all of the interbeing fating happening these days, it shouldn’t be too surprising that it’s finally happened.”“But that’s just it.  She doesn’t have the coloring of a Wedelve.  Her skin isn’t an earth tone like them.  It’s the same color as yours and mine.  Oh!  And the tattoo!  It’s like mine and Hayden’s healers’ tattoos, only under the other eye, and instead of being a green vine it’s of three silver stars.”He looked from Hayden to Jasper who were both frowning.  Jasper’s gaze moved to his mate and his eyes widened.  “What if you’re not the only one, Shlova?”“What do you mean?”“What if you’re not the only human and Wedelve cross here?”Danny frowned.  “But Hayden doesn’t have pointy ears.”“No, but that doesn’t mean another offspring of that breeding might not acquire that genetic trait.”“You might be right, Hun.  The only thing that wouldn’t match with that idea is the tattoo.  I’ve never even heard of a tattoo like that around here.”“See what I mean?”  Danny finished off his mug of sloan.“Will you go looking for her?”  Hayden got up and sniffed the fried rabbit and mashams Jasper was putting on a plate for her.  When the smell didn’t make her stomach upset she smiled and sat down to take an experimental bite.“I don’t see the point at this moment.  I’d have no idea where to start looking.”Jasper handed him a plate.  “Just wait.  The more dreams you have, the more details you’ll notice.  Maybe you’ll see something that will give you a clue.”  He watched as Hayden put a masham in her mouth and chewed cautiously then smiled when she took another bite.“Thank the moons, I was starting to think you were going to starve to death before this baby was born.”  He kissed her on the forehead. She smiled.  “I think it likes mashams.”Everyone turned to the hall door.  Danny smiled.“Hello, Nina.”The ten year old Maj smiled shyly and gave a small wave before entering the kitchen and making herself a plate.Jasper kissed her forehead.  “Are your brother and sister still sleeping?”She nodded and went to sit beside Hayden who hugged her close. The conversation turned the Wittecks and Danny forgot about the mystery of his future mate for a while.
So, there you have it. A little of Danny's predicament in this next novel. :D Stay tuned for more updates on your favorite beings from Quelondain!
Stay safe, Sweetlings!

Teaser Tuesday!!

I thought I'd pop in and let you all know that things are rolling along with A Witteck's Call, the second book in The Witteck Chronicles series.  I'm hoping for a July release if all goes to plan.
One of the things I love about Quelondain is the relationships between the characters there.  Two beings who are starting to steal my heart are Danny and Brice.  The human and Maj have turned into my comic relief.  They crack me up.  In this scene, the best friends are on their way up to the Northern Regions to try and find out more about the Wittecks' orbs.  Along the way, they run into a pack of rogues.  Danny, being a healer, takes it upon himself to heal one of the injured humans though it could cost him his own life.
So, here it is. :D
Today's teaser.

“Danny, look out!”  Braydon ran toward the fox who was trying to get up.  The snow under him was bright with blood.  His opponent grinned and stalked over, ready to finish the job.  Braydon’s shoulder exploded with pain as he tackled the man.  He managed to grab the dagger and forced it to the ground.  Danny moaned as he stood, shifted and pulled his dagger.  He slid the blade over the man’s throat, gave Braydon a pat on the shoulder then sat heavily on the ground.“By the moons, Danny!  Are you alright?”  Brice knelt beside him and handed him his pack.“I’ll live.”  He hissed through his teeth as he pulled his bloody tunic over his head and looked down at the cut that ran long his right side.  “I think he managed to break a rib.”Brice made as if he was about the touch the injured area and stopped at the growl that rumbled through his friend.“Just hand me the needle and thread.”  Danny inspected the cut and frowned.“Here, Danny.  Have a shot of jeckden.”  Matthew handed him the bottle and he took two long swallows of it.Brice cringed as Danny took a deep breath and clenched his teeth as he set to work closing the gash.  By the end of the process he was sweating and shaking so hard that Brice was sure the smaller man would faint. He tied off the thread.“More jeckden?”Danny shook his head.  “I have to finish with Katie.”  He got up and made his way back to her side.“You’re hurt.”  She frowned.“I’ve had worse.  Now, I’ll get you to lay as still as possible.”  He looked at Braydon who had followed him in.  “I’m going to use my energy.  I’ll push it into her so that she has enough for me to heal her.”“Danny, are you sure?”  Brice knelt beside him.  “You know you’ve been having problems controlling that one.  Hayden told you not to use it yet.”“I can’t just let her die knowing that I might be able to save her.”  He grinned. “You know what to do if I get caught in it.  Here’s your chance to knock me around without me fighting back.  Push me off and break the connection like we’ve been doing at home.”
Brice nodded.  He wiped his hands on his pants nervously and watched Danny go through the motions of pulling waves out of the air.  Danny closed his eyes and Brice saw a shiver run through him.  Braydon frowned as Katie jerked under the healer’s hands.  Brice shook his head when it looked like he might interfere.
“How are you doing, Danny?”  Brice was watching for the telltale signs that would alert him that Danny was losing too much energy.
“I’m good.  Just a bit more should do it.”  He smiled to show he wasn’t lying.  Suddenly, Danny slumped and Katie jerked violently.  Brice tackled his friend away from the woman.
“By the moons, Danny, wake up!”  He shook his friend and gave him small slaps to the face.  “Why did you try?  Without Hayden here to bring you back…”  He didn’t finish the thought.  “I swear, Danny, if you don’t wake up, I’ll beat you to a pulp.”  He exhaled with relief as Danny coughed and cracked open an eye.
“That hardly seems fair considering I’d be defenseless.  What the hell were you waiting for?  Spring?”  He groaned and sat up holding his head in his hands.  “Here’s hoping that was enough.”  He knelt by Katie once again and pulled a different wave over her.  “Come one, Katie, do this for me.”
She jerked and Danny smiled.  Katie moaned as everything mended.  He rocked back onto his heels then settled himself against the cave wall.
“Thank the moons!”  Braydon pulled his mate to his chest.  “Thank you, Danny.”  He looked over Katie’s shoulder to the Maj.  Danny nodded, closed his eyes, and leaned his head back.
Katie pulled away from Braydon and put hand on Danny’s arm.  “Are you alright?”
“I’ll be fine.  I just need to sleep to make up the energy I gave you.”
Brice pulled their blankets out and made a bed on the floor of the cave.  “Here’s as good a place as any.  At least I can guard the entrance.  Lay down.”
Danny smirked, his green eyes smiling.  “You’re my mother now, are you?”
Brice grunted and grinned.  “If I was your mother you’d have grown a few more inches.”  The two of them laughed.  Brice took a deep breath and shook his head.  “Don’t do that again without Hayden around, alright?”
“I’m not promising.”  Danny groaned and pushed away from the wall.  “Pass me a clean shirt, will you?”  He made to pull the tunic over his head and gasped.
“Here.  Let me help.”  Katie tugged gently on the sleeve and helped him put it on.
“Thank you.”  He lay down and looked up at Brice.  “Don’t do anything stupid while I’m sleeping.”
“Like what?”
Danny grunted.  “Who knows with you.  And don’t drink all the jeckden.”  He smiled.  “I’m going to need some when I wake up.”

Crossover's new prologue

Right. So Crossover is officially mine again and Journey will be also on May 1st.  By mid December the entire trilogy will be mine to do with what I wish.  And what is it that I wish?  I wish to rewrite and polish my babies up and resend them out into the world. They've been out there for three years and if I go by the reviews, one of the only thing that annoys the readers is the editing job on them. Most of them enjoy the story and that makes me very happy.  Today I started working on Crossover. I seriously wanted to hurl and I'm not going to lie, I'm not sure how so many of you finished reading the book. (though I'm very thankful you did). So far, the original prologue is gone and chapter one is now is now the prologue and has been cut in half.  So here it is... (Still not editor edited, mind you) :D

Crossover (The Chosen One Trilogy: book one)PrologueIt’s hard to believe that at one point life had seemed dull, boring, average and uneventful, though that was the way I liked it.  I went through my routine one day at a time with no extra fuss.  Life was so uneventful that for the most part, I didn’t even dream.  Or at least, I didn’t have any dreams that I could remember. My routine was fairly basic.  Get up Monday morning, have a shower, eat breakfast, and head to school where I sat and suffered for eight hours.  I was taking my first year of veterinary medicine.  Now don’t get me wrong, I loved my course.  The reason I say I suffered was because those eight hours stood in my way before I could head to the riding arena to see Dodge.Dodge had been my thirteenth birthday present.  He’d been goofy looking weanling with long legs and soft eyes.  He’d stood in his stall looking up at me with a big green bow tied around his neck.  He was perfect. You see, I’d been riding since I was eight and begging for a horse since I could talk.  Before I’d been able to get my horse, my dad had told me I had to prove to him that I was going to stick with it.  That hadn’t been hard to do.  I can’t begin to count the arguments we’ve had about the fact that I spend most of my free time with Dodge. So now Dodge is ten and I’m twenty-three.  He’s grown into a beautiful, muscular horse and I’m, well, I’m me and life is just how I like it.  Just me and Dodge.  It’s not that I’m not interested in men.  I’ve had one fairly serious relationship that lasted a year and a half.  At least, it had been serious to me.  When I think back on it now, it’s hard to believe I’d thought he was the most amazing guy.  Well, until I loaned him my truck for a weekend and found a very nice pair of lacy underwear that didn’t belong to me under the seat the next day.  I’ve had a few other boyfriends, but most of them didn’t understand why I’d rather go to the barn on a Friday night instead of going to the bar.  The thought of going out and being paraded around just wasn’t my thing and I’ll admit that some of it probably has to do with my personal image of myself.  I don’t put myself in the beautiful people category.  I have slightly wavy dark brown hair that falls to the middle of my back.  It’s never done. I prefer ponytails and baseball hats.  I also don’t have the greatest body.  I’m 5 foot 4 inches tall, kind of thin and seriously lacking in the curve department.  Of course, I don’t really dress to flatter, either.  My wardrobe consists of wranglers, t- shirts and tank tops, though I do own one dress my dad made me buy for my cousin’s wedding when I was seventeen.  It’s been worn as little as possible since then.  I think my best feature are my eyes.  They’re a deep green with weird gold and grey specs and long eyelashes.  No mascara for me.  Well, no makeup, period.  I always end up smearing it because I forget I have it on.You’re probably getting tired of hearing about me, but I need you to understand one thing before I get on with this story.  I’ve always been a loner; that one person who is never comfortable around too many people.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I like people, but I always felt like I didn’t belong.  You know, like there was something very important missing. Then came the day that everything changed.  It  was a Friday…

Author info:
Wife, mother, author. That pretty much sums it up. :) I am a fantasy author who loves to spend time in made up worlds filled with magic. I am a firm believer that no hero is perfect and that all villains are burdened with a tiny shred of humanity.

excerpt:
Kate smiled as they jogged through the forest of florescent colored trees.  It was amazing how much she’d missed being here.  Quallen glanced at her and grinned.

“You look like you’re happy to be here despite the circumstances.”

“I am.”  She made sure not to trip over a fallen tree before chancing a look at him.  His wings fluttered effortlessly and helped him glide over the same tree she’d barely hopped over.  “Cheater.”

He laughed.  “I’m glad you’re back, Kate.”

“Me too, Quallen.”

He hopped over another tree in his path.  “You’ve been practicing running?”

Kate nodded.  “Just in case I came back.  I thought I was going to have a heart attack with all the walking and running we did the last time.”  She was actually fairly proud of how well she was keeping up with him.  She knew her endurance had improved with all of her training but until you were actually chasing a Faerie prince through the woods, it was hard to judge just how much.

“Tell me more about what’s about to happen.”

She took a deep breath.  “I have no idea, really.  I was just reading the part where the mages were starting the spell when I fell asleep.”

“What in the world is my uncle up to?”

Kate was finding it harder and harder to weave between the trees as the forest became denser.  It wouldn’t be much farther before they’d reach the tree wall guarding the lake.  She frowned.

“I thought anyone with thoughts of harm towards the lake and Veenata couldn’t get past the tree wall.”

Quallen nodded.  “There’s no way those elves should have gotten in.  They must be powerful mages to have done so.”

They both reached out a hand and touched the wall of trees in front of them.  Kate grinned as they spread to let the duo pass.  Quallen crossed first, his hand on his dagger should he need it.  Kate wiped the rain out of her eyes.  The wind whipped her wet hair against her cheeks.

“Do you know which side of the lake they were on?”

She shook her head.

“Alright.  Stay close and low to the ground.”  His whisper was lost in a boom of thunder.

Kate’s heart pounded in her chest while the butterflies battled in her stomach.  Mud and dead leaves squished between her fingers and they crawled to the edge of the lake to get a better view.

“Stop it!”  Veenata’s voice barely carried through the sound of the rain.

Quallen brushed wet bangs out of his eyes with the back of his arm, his violet eyes dark with anger.

The dark elves laughed and continued to chant.

“What should we do?”

Veenata’s sobs made Kate’s earlier resentment vanish.  Quallen pulled an arrow from his quiver and notched it on the string of his bow.

“Killing the elves will buy us time?”

Kate nodded.  “I think so.”  She flinched as lightning left the mages and shot upwards into the clouds.

Veenata screamed.

Quallen’s arrow shot through the rain and impaled itself into the farthest elf’s chest.  His second shot took down the one closest to them.  The third elf threw himself to the ground and rolled behind a fallen tree.  Veenata turned toward them, relief clear on her face.

“Stay down, Kate.”  Quallen stood, his wet wings useless.  He sprinted around the lake, heading toward the last mage.

Another lightning bolt shot through the air and Kate watched as it arced and electrified the water.   Veenata screeched and disappeared under the surface.  A wave started where the lightning had impacted and grew as it came closer to shore.

Before she could run away, the wall of water engulfed her.  Kate managed to fill her lungs with air before being pulled back into the churning waters.  She looked through the dark water, desperate to find the surface.  The need to breathe tightened her chest and panic set in.  There was no way Quallen was going to save her this time.  Had he been sucked into the lake also?

Her lungs screaming for air, she kicked her legs.

A vice-like grip tightened around her ankle and she screamed.  Bubbles popped around her face as the last of her air escaped her lungs.  Veenata’s hand produced a small glowing orange conch shell.  She pressed it to Kate’s lips and motioned for her to suck through it.

Synopsis
Sophie has enough problems in her life without Spencer turning her blood to fire, without his eyes freezing and burning her, without his hatred of her. Since his migration into the house next to hers, Sophia Valdez isn’t sure whether she wants to toss him under a bus or kiss that smirking mouth of his. But even as the temperature rises around them, leaping flames of passion, want and desire, everything either has ever known will be shattered by the lurking shadow hounding their every step, wanting revenge.

Spencer Rowth moves to the sleepy town of River Port with his mother and twelve year old sister, Suzy, to escape a deceitful father, an unfaithful girlfriend and a life crumbling much too fast for him to grapple onto only to be smacked upside the head by the last thing he wanted again. Sophie was everything he refused to want. Her temper, her wit, her laugh, her smile, the way her entire body goes up in flames under his hands are things he would rather slam a lid on and forget. Instead, he finds himself falling for the smart-mouth next door. But how long will he have before the evil chasing them catches up? How long before the very thing he never wanted becomes his only thread to sanity? And who is after them? What do they want and why do they want Spencer and Sophie dead?

Excerpt
“I won’t bite,” he said, probably meaning it as a joke.
“Oh if only that were my only problem,” she sighed under her breath.
“What?”
She shook her head. “Nothing.”
She took his hand, slipping her icy fingers through his. The electric sparks tore a fiery path down the length of her arms, nearly melting the ice beneath their feet. She shivered involuntarily and felt his fingers flex.
“All right?” Had his voice always been so husky?
She dampened her lips. “Yeah…” The single word died in her throat as she was pulled towards him. Her heart tripped. Her lungs stilled. The heat of his body rushed over her with the subtle scent peppermint, leather, spices and smoke.
A soft mist blew around them. Raindrops glistened in his hair, shimmering under the pale glow of the light post. His eyes were shadowed beneath wispy fringes, but the silver in them glinted like pools of liquid mercury. Her breath caught. It must have made a sound because his fingers tightened. His shaky exhale caressed her flushed face.
“This,” he whispered so quietly she almost didn’t hear him. “Is why you are so bad for me.”

Rockin' the Heart Review and Excerpt!!

BLURB:

If music nourishes the soul…

Loved by millions, but shunned by blood, Heath “Fang” Fangor has led his band, Hot Wired, to the top while others have fallen by the wayside. He devoted his life to music, and from that devotion harvested a new family—his band mates and fans.

A man can desire nothing else…or can he?

Living in the shadow of her brother’s fame sucks! Sam Collins is desperate to have what she wants—a simple and uncomplicated life. She’s no stranger to scandals and how they work. Now that she’s inadvertently dragged Fang into the center of her latest gossip, could the scandal she created in her quest for freedom have gone too far?

Amid stardom the heart stages a new melody…

Fang has more fame and fortune than he will ever need, but none of that matters if he can’t have the woman of his dreams. Years have been wasted waiting for the right moment to approach the woman his heart desires above all others. There’s just one major problem...she’s his best friend’s sister. To have her, he will have to risk it all.

One that might be responsible for Rockin the Heart!

REVIEW:

So, when I saw that Gracen Miller was looking for bloggers to help out with the release tour for this book, I of course jumped at the chance.  I love her writing.  She is a fantastic story teller and the way she can make you feel emotions is a gift.

Rockin the Heart is no exception. Gracen's first go at a New Adult novel has it all; comedy, joy, heartache, romance, and a whole lot of sexy.

This novel follows a band and the drummer's sister as they tour around.  Their lives are an ongoing media frenzy and I think the author did a great job of capturing the excitement and frustration the characters went through as they tried to go about their day to day business.  Add in the romance between the sister and the lead singer and the hype reaches a new level.

Rockin the Heart will have you flipping through the pages as quickly as you can go just so you can find out what happens.

I definitely recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a fast paced and sexy read.  I am extremely excited to hear that there is a sequel to this novel and I can't wait to read it.

EXCERPT:

Chapter One

Heath was a rock star god. The tight lines fanning outward from his silver eyes classified him as a pissed off rock star god.
“Wanna tell me what you did this time to get the platinum treatment?” He indicated the jail cell, while ramming his fingers through his shaggy, jet-black hair.
Preferring to shrink into the shadows and avoid a confrontation with him, Sam took a deep breath and rose from the bench. She stepped away from the metal seat to draw closer to the bars dividing them.
She’d expected her brother, Jason—Jase—to ride to her rescue. Like always. Her foundation. Predictable. Dependable. Rattled by her sibling’s abandonment, she ogled the skull on Heath’s shirt, mortification overwhelming her.
If Heath was Jase’s replacement, then he’d been serious when he said ‘don’t call me the next time you’re arrested.’ She’d assumed he yelled that in anger. She was surprised he’d bothered to offer aid at all.
Gut hollow at her brother’s desertion, she cleared the ache out of her throat and asked, “Can’t you just bail me out and we’ll forget this ever happened?”
Knowing he wouldn’t go for that suggestion, Sam swallowed hard and shuffled her feet. Disappointing Jase was one thing, but letting Heath down was an entirely different matter. She’d crushed on the man since her tenth birthday when he’d given her a heart-shaped jewelry box. Didn’t matter he’d been too old for her at a mature fourteen. That infatuation hadn’t waned with age either, but only grown stronger. Not that he showed her a stitch of interest. To him, she was nothing more complicated than a kid sister.
His digits curled around one of the bars. The tattoo lettering on his left knuckles fit his current disposition—ired. On the other hand the letters H-O-T-W graced his knuckles. If read together, they spelled out the name of his band: Hot Wired.
“Not this time, Samantha.”
She cringed. The only time he broke out her full name was when he was upset or disappointed with her.
“You been drinking?”
“You know I haven’t.” Just shy of twenty-one, in her world getting liquor wasn’t an issue. Neither was alcohol her preferred drug of choice.
“Drugs?”
She rolled her eyes, the question too stupid to warrant a response.
“This type of publicity is bad news for the band.” She’d heard that one before. None of her recklessness damaged Hot Wired’s career. Not that she sought to hinder their mega stardom. She wasn’t that selfish, she just struggled with controlling her impulses on occasion.
Therapy failed to help. Yelling spawned further rebellion.
Living under the umbrella of the band’s fame grew tiresome. Her life should be her own, to live however she pleased. Weary of the media hounding her, she craved going back to a time when nobody knew her name. A normal life like when she’d been a kid.
She’d grown up on daydreams of the band making it to the big times. They won the lottery of recording deals, while Sam discovered stardom came at a high price. Along with that knowledge came the freebie of all lessons…fantasies were often better than reality. The last time she’d visited the mall without a trail of vipers eager to report her purchases she’d been fifteen.
Sheesh!
Was it too much to ask to have a date the world didn’t scrutinize? Even the loss of her virginity made headline news. That act should’ve come with the expectation of privacy. Thanks to the tabloids, Jase almost burst a blood vessel over that exploitation.
Once she’d picked her nose in public on purpose because a rag-reporter stalked her. Scratched her butt on another occasion. Gave them something to write. Those were the photographs and articles that gave her incentive to laugh.
“The only reason they’re not pressing charges is because of Jase.”
“Thanks for the reminder.” Along with it came the reminder that her brother sent Heath instead of coming himself.
Despite the news-hounds, she got out of a lot of shit thanks to her brother’s identity. This incident would be all over the rags and Internet before morning.
‘Hot Wired’s drummer’s sister is at it again!’ They’d go on to paint her wild and immoral comportment.
Have at it you fucks. Can’t hurt me any more than you already have, but what about the band?
Distance from Hot Wired would aid all of them. She’d get her peace of mind back, and they’d be devoid of the rebel-rouser in their group.
She’d mentioned changing her last name and moving back to their Southern roots in the small Alabama town where she’d been born. Jase had gone bat-shit crazy at the suggestion and went on and on about how their parents would be rolling over in their grave at her abandoning the family name.
The name-change idea had been discarded. Swept under the rug like a dust bunny never to be spoken of again.
Torn between two worlds, Sam was suffocating. Living with someone she couldn’t have in a world where she didn’t belong.

BIO:

Gracen is a hopeless daydreamer masquerading as a “normal” person in southern society.  When not writing,
she’s a full-time basketball/football/guitar mom for her two sons and a devoted wife to her real-life hero-husband. She’s addicted to writing, paranormal romance novels, movies, Alabama football and coffee…addictions are not necessarily in order of priority. She’s convinced coffee is nectar from the gods and blending coffee and writing together generates the perfect creative merger. Many of her creative worlds are spawned from coffee highs.
