The Executioner's Song by Norman Mailer, an author I only recently read for the first time with his book, The Naked and the Dead (although I can't think of The Executioner's Song without the Adverts song, Looking through Gary Gilmour's Eyes, running through my head). Hopefully(!) a variety of books - as yet unidentified - which deal with official executioners, their mentality, possible execution methods of the future - all in the name of research.(less)
