The Apocalypse Is NOW

ATTENTION: EMERGENCY ALERT
The CDC has issued the following release:
Please be advised that the Center for Disease Control has discovered a previously undetected outbreak of Virus 87633482. This virus may sit dormant for many years and shows its symptoms gradually. It will cause a "zombie"-like state where a person mindlessly consumes crappy popular culture and may lead to graying of the skin, incessant drooling, and irresistible cravings for human flesh. Other possible symptoms include:Ca...

FMP: Somebody's Chelsea

I've always liked Reba McEntire. This is one of her more beautiful songs. I dare you to not cry. Plus, Ed Asner. That is all.

And Bend... And Stretch!

So beautiful, I just had to have them. There they are. Beautiful, leather, calf-length. The most amazing boots you've ever seen. You feel yourself drawn to them, your fingers search out the appropriate size, you slip them on, toes sliding in easily. You can feel the exhiliration pump through your veins as your heel slots firmly into place. Your smile starts to grow with the sound of the zipper rising.

Up, up, up, it goes.

The zipping came to a screeching haltAnd then it stops. Two full inches be...

We Will Not Be Silenced!

As many of you already know, it's Banned Books Week this week. Books have been censored since, well, probably since the first book was ever written. There is always someone out there who will try to stop the spread of joy and knowledge. That's why this week is so important. Oppressing peoples' right to read is taking away their chance to learn and grow.

Let's look at some of my favorite banned books.

The Hunger Games: Honestly, this one isn't a shocker. It's a very tough subject. But it's also...

Doing NaNo? Start Now!

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is less than a month away. 50,000 words in 30 days -- a great way to start a novel, especially if you've never finished one before. But it can be stressful, too. 1,667 words a day may not seem like much, but if you just pick up a notebook or laptop and start writing without much thought, it can quickly become overwhelming. My suggestion to those new to NaNo is to start early. No, I don't mean start writing early. That would be cheating. No words writte...

FMP: In My Mind - Amanda Palmer

I was recently introduced to Amanda Palmer through a post by Jenny Lawson (aka: The Bloggess). This song is the one that sticks out the most to me right now. (Warning: She does use the eff-bomb on occasion, but not much)

Nothing Is New, So Get Over It

Nothing is original anymore. -Who the hell knows
Image © Nerdluck/Stock.xchngLast night, I was laying in bed thinking over a conversation I'd had with someone the previous day at the coffee shop. She was super excited that Clash of the Titans had arrived in her mailbox earlier that day. She couldn't wait to watch it. I had to ask the inevitable question.
"The original or the remake?"
"The original, of course!"
A discussion ensued that I've had with more than one person. Many who loved...
