I first wrote this glimpse into a writer's mind two years ago. As today is a writing day and I really should get a blog up as well, I figured it would be nice to take another look at it.

Go where the story leads you It starts as a single thought, maybe just one word. It could even be an image. It grabs your attention for one reason or another. Maybe it was suggested for a word war or writing dash. Maybe the color caught your eye. Maybe it's the way the word flows through your brain and of...

FMP: "I Have A Dream"

I've heard people wonder why we still celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. on the third Monday of January every year. To be quite frank, one reason we need to remember him is that if people are complaining about having to take off for a "black person day", then clearly racism is still a very prominent issue that needs to be remembered. And put quite simply, he changed the future of America. He may be famous for speaking out for African Americans, but the equality he sought for his...

2013 Writing Resolutions

I'm totally stealing this idea from Merry Farmer, who is one of the most awesome writers I know. She came up with the notion of Writing Resolutions, not only to get more books out, but to improve her writing as well. It was such a great idea, I just had to copy it. So here they are.

2012 in Review

Like every year, 2012 had its ups and downs. On the upside, we survived yet another "end of the world" catastrophe. Sorry, Mayans. Better luck next time. On the downside, I only published 4 things this year. With the increased workload at my EDJ, I simply could not keep up the same production schedule I had in 2011. For that, I truly apologize to all my readers. I can't promise to do better next year, but I will try to release at least that many books, if not more.

The Jane gift...

Can We Avoid Tragedy?

Tragedy has struck the US yet again. Last week, just before Christmas, a young man gunned down 20 children and 6 adults in an elementary school in Sandy Hook, CT. Before that, another young man opened fire at a crowded theater in Colorado. And before that another young man tried to kill a senator, another went after a college campus, still others hit a high school (Columbine, if you don't remember that far back). Every time it happens, we are shocked at how someone could do something so h...

FMP: Imagine - John Lennon

John Lennon and Yoko OnoSaturday marked the 32nd anniversary of John Lennon's death. After being shot in the back outside of his home, he was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced DOA. Despite his wife's wishes, the tragic news was almost immediately announced on Monday Night Football. He was cremated two days later (December 10th, 1980).

Lennon's murderer, Mark David Chapman, cited the song Imagine as one of his reasons for killing the internationally loved artist. I...

The Single Girl: Dating Tips for Guys

Dating can be rough, for both guys and girls, so in an effort to help those poor lonely men out there win the girl of their dreams, I offer these six bits of advice.

1) Make an effort - When you find a girl you are interested in, especially if you find her on an online dating site, it is important to show that interest. When contacting them, don't just say "Hey, how are you?" or some other generic thing that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Comment on something they s...
