I started writing poetry at the age of 14. My hope was they would be used as lryics by rock and roll singers such as Elvis Presley, Paul Anka and others, but this never happened. I continued to write, but not seriously until I was nearly 30. I wrote nonfiction most of my adult life with articles being published in a denominational magazine and business publications. When my oldest granddaughter was about two, I started pretending I had tickle bugs on the ends of my fingers. She never tired of this.

When her little sister was old enough, the older sister passed this game on to her. I live 13 hours away. One day I received a phone call from the younger granddaughter asking me if I could bring some tickle bugs the next time I visited.

This prompted me to write the children's book The Legend of the Tickle Bugs.(less)
