And the fact that when Ed chewed gum he would swallow it instead of spitting it out … for some indefinable reason that revolted me no end.
My husband used to swallow his gum and he was a little offended by this passage! I felt bad. He stopped swallowing his gum. He is nothing like Edward. After this, I was much more cautious about including details from real life in books. It's pretty easy to capture the spirit of something without using a real-life bit that might hurt someone.
